This is a lot of discussion on a building that is probably just a concept. Is there any concrete proof that this (exact) building is going to be built there?

It's the JAIC Hilton Residence Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It's 33 floors with 168 luxury suites, and a five-star hotel.

It's not that statement that leads me to have no doubt about the Hilton. It's the extremely high demand for hotel space in the CBD. And as for the scarcity of land downtown for hotel development, is the downtown plaza not being offered to these hotel developers? That seems to be quite a bit of land for all types of development. Maybe the city has something more than just a court complex in the works for that patch of land.

After reading this article I have zero doubt that the Hilton will be built.

That is going to be a really cool addition to DT Norfolk.

It looks like the first building being built for the NSU RISE Center.

That is one damn good picture. It really shows how close all three buildings(including Hilton) will be when completed. Also, that is going to be a really good view when Granby is finished.

After spring they will be asking for more money to continue testing. Face it, this project is a dieing horse and ODU should put it out of its misery.

I think you're right, it is changing. But I still get the, "why would anyone want to live in downtown Norfolk" reaction when I tell them about new condo towers being built.

No I'm not saying that VB should not urbanize. In fact, VB should do more to urbanize itself. Like making developers build high density projects not rows and rows of vinyl houses. The point is when VB goes up against cities its size it becomes blatantly obvious that it's a mega burb instead of a big city. Many people in VB look down on cities like Norfolk, Newport News & Hampton because they think they're not even safe enough to drive through let alone be compared to. The point is VB may be the largest city in HR, but it's not the economic hub like many people believe. I live in VB and love this city, but the arrogance that hovers over this place sometimes becomes a bit overwhelming.
