  1. Thanks, GRDad! It was very exciting to announce.
  2. It looks like the new facade of the former Two Chopper's will be completed soon. I snuck a peek today at the construction and they're painting the exterior and have already added tiles around the doorway.
  3. Anybody know what's going on with the former Two Choppers location? Today workers are adding studs and a wall to the front.
  4. Just drove past the site on Division this morning and the workers are installing a crane.
  5. Yeah, you can search the Christmas category on the event calendar, but there isn't a ton quite yet. The Christmas and Winter guide will be out November 10 though.
  6. Unfortunately I noticed the same thing. How does this stuff get passed quality control?
  7. It looks like El Burrito Loco at Knapp's Corner is adding a second location on Ivanrest next to Beaner's.
  8. Yeah, beside Big O' there really isn't much in the way of sit down pizza places downtown.
  9. I had a chance to try it a couple months ago and it was surprisingly good. By far the best of the Restaurant Partners Inc line of eateries: Beltline Bar, Sundance Grill, Bagel Beanery.
  10. I kind of like tamias' design. Right away the building reminded me of giant children's blocks.
  11. I saw a sign at the Celebration North complex for a new Japanese-Chinese restaurant called Minado I think. Surprisingly, it's on the second floor of that office building that was recently completed. Anyone tried it out yet?
  12. I wonder if anything will be built where Mountain Jack's was torn down near 28th and the Beltline. That lot has been vacant for a while.
  13. Looks like a new bistro/entertainment venue called E3 Bistro is opening in Grandville near 28th and Ivanrest.
  14. I heard Cafe Solace will be getting a liquor license soon and will be expanding their dinner hours, as well.
  15. This one was first mentioned in March:
  16. Good work finding those; I didn't look back all the way to February.
  17. I didn't see a thread for this project, but the Grand Rapids Business Journal has an article about a possible new parking garage that would be built: GRBJ link. The proposal will be presented to the City Commission in about two weeks, would have 318 spaces and cost $9.4m, the most expensive per-space parking ramp in GR's history. If approved, building would begin in November.
  18. It's amazing how few trees were downtown back then compared to today.
  19. yeah, I would've thought being located on the first floor of the New England Financial building at Louis & Ionia would've been prime. Apparently, the Woodland Mall location isn't going to be quite the same as the typical ones in Chicago. I guess they've toned down some of their dancing, karaoke, etc. I don't think it will be as edgy as usual from what I've heard.
  20. A new coffee/ice cream shop is opening in Alger Heights called Gathering Grounds/Sundaes in the Heights next week after July 4th.
  21. The design reminds me of that shopping center on East Paris and Cascade where Bonefish Grill is located. Same architects?
  22. Anybody know this guy (whose tour bus was hiding by the police station)? Steve Azar is a country act. I saw him talking to Wilhite from the Thunder Country morning show on Monroe Center today.
  23. Now that you mention it, I noticed that Gallery on Fulton is #8 on the Parade of Downtown Living. Strangely, though, the map in Grand Rapids Magazine has the location at Weston and Ionia. Hello! 'on Fulton' is in the name!
