  1. The second residential building: Elevator shaft for the first residential building and the parking deck:
  2. Metropolitan aka the old Greyhouse site. It looks like thee parking deck is not going to be wrapped with apartments on this site? The rendering shows it wrapped on the other side so maybe just three sites? The deck is so ugly.
  3. Where will it be built? Are they talking about tearing it down and rebuilding? That whole block hot garbage. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd have them raze the whole block (saving the trees) and rebuild the deck with ground floor retail on the Morgan and McDowell side of the block - those two stretches are just terrible - nothing but blank walls on either side of the street.
  4. Probably trying to line up tenants. Sometimes a developer will announce a tower and hope to generate buzz to pre-lease enough space so the backers will sign off on starting construction. The Edison is another example. Now the new developer has new renderings and is shopping the space around.
  5. Are they just going to leave the skeleton of the "sail" like it is or clad it or what? I'm thinking RSA Tower in Mobile or Atlanta's tallest.
  6. You're right. Atlanta's IKEA is tucked away behind Atlantic Station, is pretty much unwalkable, and has its own parking deck. But then again, if you're going to IKEA are you really going to be able to carry much of anything with you? Unless, say, you're just looking and plan to order online / get delivery.
  7. ITB seems to think the Ikea plans is more "hoping" than a done deal, and that essentially the mall needs Ikea more than Ikea needs the mall. I wouldn't count any chickens until an official announcement is made.
  8. Those decks are open to the public after 5pm and are currently free parking then and weekends. The site between CSX and Capital seems too small and only the north side of it would be able to get in and out. Kindly is too small too and also only one way in or out plus there's a 10 floor building planned there. Heritage might be a good spot but there would have to be a plan in place to build new housing elsewhere.
  9. Or just east of Capital Blvd north of Peace if Pigeon house creek wasn't in the way. I think N West St north of Peace is redeveloping and will continue to do so.
  10. This is like a more pedestrian, squat version of Atlanta's One Atlantic Center. This is like a more pedestrian, squat version of Atlanta's One Atlantic Center.
  11. I walked by there today at lunch but only along Wilmington - where was the old home that they're moving?
  12. On the soccer stadium thing, via Ian Pierno of N&O on Twitter: A quick North Carolina F.C. update: The @TriangleBIZJrnl said NCFC is down to three stadium sites, which is accurate. WakeMed Soccer Park is one of them. However, the club is looking at building a 20,000-seat stadium, not 24,000. Analyses from Conventions Sports and Leisure said the market could support 24,000, 1,600 club seats and 26 suites. While WakeMed has nice facilities, it’s at the bottom of NCFC’s list. Malik said, “It would take a lot to build (WakeMed Soccer Park) up to MLS standards.” However, that could change over time if there’s a transport center added, a better highway exit, etc., then WakeMed Soccer Park becomes more feasible. Back to stadium size: Despite fact NCFC is looking to start at 20,000 seats, it’ll also want a stadium with capabilities to be expanded in the future. Also, This is big news: Incoming governor in Missouri does NOT support public funding for a Saint Louis MLS club.
  13. I asked them: "Monitors will be spread throughout GoRaleigh Station depicting arrival/departures and other information. Those roll out w full opening." Part of the station is set to open Monday.
  14. Link if you want to look at it: https://www.raleighnc.gov/content/PlanDev/Documents/DevServ/DevPlans/Reviews/2016/SiteReview/SR-101-16.pdf
  15. Only site I can think of is the parcels of land held by a trust between North Hills and Wake Forest Rd along St Albans. Thinking about the traffic is nightmare fuel and would give me one more reason to avoid North Hills.
  16. I'll take uninspired grey in exchange for all this ground floor retail. I didn't realize there was so much of it, plus in the second residential building.
  17. Probably need to clean up these threads because many cover the same topics. Anyway, maybe this is posted somewhere but I haven't seen these renderings of the second Dillon residential or the actual site plan before:
  18. I guess we could have just looked at Kane's site rather than guess at residential components:
  19. Yes, I believe so. There was a project a few years back to add little black signs atop street signs saying "SR 908353" or whatnot, at least in western NC.
  20. I wonder why they didn't make two Skyhouses at once like Charlotte did? Are the Edison apartments by the same person? It would have made sense to make another Skyhouse on the other side of that parking deck (the same set up as Skyhouse I and II in Charlotte) then they would have had two lots for Edison office towers or whatnot. Anyway, if they want to make Skyhouse here, there a couple of different designs of Skyhouses so they could put a different top on it (the Charlotte skyhouses have a square top while Raleigh's is rounded). Also, I'm not exactly sure how air rights work? Does this mean they want to build a higher parking deck there? In some cities you can buy air rights and add them on to the height of your building (e.g. 20 floors plus another 18 that the other lot isn't using). Probably doesn't apply here.
  21. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2016/12/07/high-rise-developer-buys-hillsborough-street-block.html Cary real estate developer Gregg Sandreuter, who has been a partner in the development of the 23-story Skyhouse Raleigh apartments, Edison Lofts mid-rise and future Edison office site in downtown Raleigh, has assumed control of a one-acre city block at Hillsborough, Harrington and West streets. Sandreuter confirms that he has formed a partnership to buy the site, but he wouldn’t disclose what his plans are yet for the property. He did note that the property, only a few blocks from the Capitol, has been zoned by the city for mixed-use development of up to 20 stories high."
  22. 8 possible locations being looked at, no hint at where. Anyway, in other news, The Edison office site at SE corner of Martin and Wilmington is getting demolition. So a project on that site might not entirely be dead. http://raleighpublicrecord.org/news/development-beat/2016/12/06/development-beat-teardown-tuesday-34/
