  1. Here is the photo not cropped (just sized down to 800 x 600). It is using a 55mm-200mm lens zoomed all the way in at 200mm. The old windows of the sky tower were very sun faded and dirty; the sky wasn't that hazy.
  2. Thanks. By the way, the Catalyst parking deck is looking a little better on the other 3 sides than in those photos (less like a jail). Here's one more photo; sorry for the poor quality. It is from the 320 foot Skytower at Carowinds, right at 10 miles from uptown. The windows were very dirty and faded from the sun, so I tried to clean up the photo some.
  3. A couple of Charlotte panos from 8-2-08: ---------------->
  4. Yeah, I didn't see any either. Maybe because when I was there it was raining a little, and they didn't want to melt? Anyway it was pretty fun. I must say it is the first time I've ever had a cheesesteak sandwich with nacho cheese. Anyway, here's my little photo set from Pride: http://flickr.com/photos/bz3rk/sets/72157606411510009/
  5. I really want to go but the Caribbean Festival & Parade is the same day (starting at noon). Will much still be going on if I make it to Pride by 4pm or so? I've never been to Pride but want to make it to both.
  6. Yes, Lufthansa flight 428 Munich to Charlotte (DLH428). Usually scheduled/arrives daily around 3PM or 3:30PM Often they have used the Airbus 330, and occasionally the Airbus A340-313x but today was the first day for the A340-600 (aka 346). It arrived today at 3:26PM.
  7. I'm at work, but today was the first flight using the A340-600 according to Flight Aware. I'm usually limited to spotting on Fri-Sat-Sun
  8. Note: this is my attempt at being a "reporter" and it was interesting getting to ask the Mayor a couple of questions and take some photos. I would like to become more involved in going to meetings at such as time permits. I thought this might be relevant to the discussion on the transit plan. Pat McCrory Talks Transit, Urban Development 5/5/08 by InitialD Mayor Pat McCrory speaks at the Crutchfield Education Center in Locust, NC. Locust, NC - Charlotte Mayor and candidate for Governor Pat McCrory spoke today on the importance of transportation in North Carolina. "We need a 25 and 50 year statewide transportation plan" said McCrory, who went on to talk about his leadership promoting the Lynx light rail line in Charlotte. On his support of transit, McCrory stated that "for 12 years I caught a lot of heat... but it is working." McCrory downplayed the light rail budget overruns by noting how many road and highway projects in North Carolina have also been over budget. The Mayor spoke on how transportation options were important to economic development and keeping jobs in the state, and we must plan for the next generation and not just for today. When asked how important rapid transit is in his statewide transportation plans, McCrory responded that it is "important part" and that people need "more choices."
  9. deleted Next time I get a chance, I'm going to go out and see if I can see what it is.
  10. Just a curious and totally random question, but does anybody know what plane lands every Friday night at 2am? It sounds kinda big.
  11. I think the football program would be wonderful. I thought they were getting ready for starting the program when they moved to the Atlantic 10 conference from C-Usa. It would be pretty much impossible to start football at the NCAA Division 1-A level (C-Usa) but much easier at the 1-AA level such as Atlantic 10. UNCC needs to look no farther than Coastal Carolina to see how to start a successful progam. Coastal was actually able to get ranked in the Top 25 in only their second year of football! And they have a great stadium as well. In the future, perhaps UNCC could do something similar to what Gardner-Webb did with their stadium. They could use the current stadium, buiding new stands and press/skyboxes on the other side and allow the current stands to be the "visitor" side.
