    The Vue

The mantis-like sprires didn't do all the much for me. It isn't the Bank of China tower.
  2. I have to admit, I've parked at the 7th St. deck on a Saturday, gotten tanked, and left on Sunday for free.
  3. I think I remember paying 3 to 5 dollars for parking, though at one point I thought it was free.
  4. I'm sure it will be more than the number that venture down to Fort Mill to see a game, especially weekday.
  5. It will be only a short hop to shuttle people from the terminus of the NE blue line to LMS, and perhaps Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Also today, I was thinking about how ridership of the NE line will flux between college being in session or not at UNCC. Also, how the NE line could see some of the heaviest traffic in the evenings versus normal rush hour.
  6. Is there any new news about this site? I keep seeing building materials show up here but have not heard anything about official plans or renderings.
  7. Just saw this article on the CNN homepage under Travel; The Dish on Charlotte. The article is via Southern Living, and it is very positive, summed with with this quote: The article then goes on the mention several restaurants in Uptown, South Park, Plaza-Midwood, Elizabeth, and Southend
  8. Eventually, as part of the NE extension. But for now it is serviced by the trolley, and there really isn't much foot traffic there now (but will be after the UNCC/Levine projects).

    The Vue

From Saturday morning: Looks like construction is moving quickly with the 2nd crane. They have almost completed this level.
  10. Yesterday, the trains where PACKED when I was coming back from Southend. I forgot there was a Panthers preseason game last night. Then, when I was in Reids, I noticed the train going up towards 9th street. When I came out, I started walking up that way out of curiosity. The driver had parked it at the 9th st. station, gotten out and was walking back towards 7th st. I talked with him briefly and he said that were "stacking" them for the Panthers game, and that at least 1 or two more would be parked around 8th st. to be ready for all the riders when the Panthers game was over. Does anybody know if they did this last season? I would like to see how the ridership yesterday compares to average weekday ridership.
  11. I took a photo from the Central Ave. bridge and did a quick and dirty rendering of the skyline with Wachovia, Bank of America, and the Vue.
  12. Ok Today from the intersection of Jordan Pl and North Davidson St
  13. Might have to do with maintaining a nice portfolio of designs to show prospective clients.
  14. I know he mentioned it in his blog. A few NoDa Fat City photos:
  15. I'm just curious, where exactly is this photo taken from? It looks to be from the Independence off ramp, but seem too high like from a structure or wall? Thanks. Edit: On furter inspection, it does appear to be from the Central Ave bridge. Sorry, I haven't taken photos from there yet, so I was confused.
  16. I think I'll try to get by there on Friday. I have Friday off and I want to bicycle around uptown and do some photos. I was recently around Independence Park and Memorial Stadium; from there you can see Wachovia rising above the courthouse/jail mid-rises, but NASCAR is hard to see because from that angle is is so far to the left. If anybody sees me cycling around Friday taking skyline shots, say "hi."
  17. I was just looking at all the renderings on www.skyscraper3d.com (Little) and under "portfolio" number 09 is a 6 floor glass and brick office building simply labeled "Cats." Is this the building that is suposed to go across Trade St. from the arena? If so, what's the status of this project; I haven't heard anything recently about it.
  18. Yes, and if you look closely, on the far left of the skyline you can make out the crane and top of Ashton Southend (101 Tremont) above the treeline.
