  1. i posted some pics a while back that i took from PC of the skyline. you can see both westin towers and both waterplace towers as well as the "traditional" skyline. the new buildings (waterplace and westin) have made quite an impact. unfortunately, those pics were taken when waterplace was just steel and hadn't been topped off yet. i'll try to get new ones, but here are two of the older ones.
  2. i like the lighting on the renaissance. for some reason i never get to see it at night, even when i'm out on the town (probably because i never look that way and i'm always in the other part of downtown). and i love how that street lamp looks green in that other pic.
  3. it needs to be gorgeous like this on the weekend (or random state holidays, like yesterday) and not during the week.
  4. gimp rules! google's picasa program actually does a similar look quite easily. you select the part you want focused and how big you want it and it blurs everything else.
  5. it never made it to 70 like it was supposed to. what a strange day. global warming?
  6. this whole report should be incorporated into providence tomorrow.
  7. if you clicked on his wikipedia link, you would've found these maps quite easily. they're the maps of the providence urban areas.
  8. based on the data on wikipedia (not sure where else to easily find it) and using what you gave for a definition, the providence urban area roughly includes cranston, johnston, smithfield, lincoln, cumberland, pawtucket, central falls, east providence, barrington, warren, tiverton, little compton, warwick, west warwick, coventry, east greenwich, north kingstown, woonsocket, and bristol (in no particular order, obviously). i didn't find the data for the nearby towns in MA. as you can see, that's almost all of RI. it may also include portsmouth, middletown, and newport. that's only the contiguous area as well, not including narragansett or westerly.
  9. i must be losing it... the first place to come to mind was the public safety complex...
  10. who should be contacted if i happen to notice it this weekend?
  11. i'm not sure if it's still there or not, but a pile of horse sh!t has been on the sidewalk at the corner of service road 8 and atwells for over a week. we first noticed it on saturday the 28th of june and it was there on the 4th. i wonder if it's still there. i imagine it's from a police horse... why wouldn't the city clean it up?
  12. i assume you meant "add"? it shows how much the citizen's lot (equal in height to citizens) and the union station lots (i'd take 12 stories there) need buildings... and how capital cove needs to be there. and the parking lots south of the financial district need tall buildings (no less than 20 stories).
  13. wow, great pics both of you! cotuit, where were you watching from?
