  1. No clue. I just know Ale House pretty well. I'd be shocked if they spent the type of money on Cheyenne. Squarefootage and asking price.
  2. That has got to be wishful thinking. The Ale House's business model would never have them paying the rent that Cheyenne Saloon would require.

    The Plaza

I don't think Urban Flats will get kills, but it could be very deadly for the theater.
  4. HOB? Not happening. The new Amway is configurable to smaller concerts, I can't imagine the city allowing that to happen. The owners of Tabu are converting their venue into more of a concert setting.
  5. Went before the game yesterday. Pretty cool. Just sampled the food (they were passing it out) it was ok. It will do very well in that location. It doesn't actually open until Saturday. Just soft opening.
  6. Sadly, Orlando Brewery is sinking as is. Get out there people! As for Burtons? No way.

    Amway Center

Because Amway is paying over 5 Mil more than Geico is annually for the rights...
  8. It's down 35% because of the economy. It is still one of the biggest money makers for the GOAA and one of the busiest exec airports in the country. It won't ever close.
  9. Can you even compare the two? No. Nor will you ever be able to again. It's a different ball game now. The goal of the canopy (which is basically a new effort to fix the area) is to assure traffic rain or shine. They're trying to fit the mold of Wall Street, and in doing so, want to improve upon Wall St.'s biggest problem, it is a useless venue when it rains. Which happens. The attraction for tourism will be occasional at best at this point. Maybe for the bowl games. Definitely for the NBA All Star game, or any other special event at the new arena. Church Street is running out of ideas, and we've been through this 3-4 times now. Basically, this time...it's do or die.

    Amway Center

Two reasons. 1 - They were worried about the reflection of the sun and I-4. 2- and more importantly, it would have made the place warmer, thus cost more to keep cool. One of the seeling points was making sure the building was energy effiecint. In Florida, mid summer with the sun beating on it...that would be near impossible.
  11. Unfortunately neither is likely at this point. No investor wants it and the money just isn't there to fix it.

    The Plaza

Heard some bad news from a good source last night. The Plaza Theater might be shutting down or going to 6 screens at the end of February. I was told one of the Cheesecake Factory guys took over, and had plans to redo the menu, etc, but the theater is hemmoraging money.

    Amway Center

Last I was told that will be a color'd tarp and not a jumbotron.
  14. Darden was approached and said no. Companies like Darden are looking for more of a campus and tower anyways.
  15. I think people fail to see the idea with these lanes a lot. They're very popular in California and other big cities as a means to help fund roads. They are separate lanes from the expressway that change price throughout the day, depending on how bad traffic is. If you don't wanna pay the toll, you don't have to. It's a growing trend nationally and would not make I-4 cost anything extra unless you want the luxury.
  16. That's because one of the owners for the T-Wolves owns the NBA City rights. As for D&B downtown...It won't happen. Its not in their very strict business model. A similar company (like the one that used to be at channelside in Tampa) might be interested...but I can pretty much 100% guarentee it will not be D&Bs.
  17. NBA City, ESPN, and Planet Hollywood are tourist attractions...not sure that's what either CSS or those companies are really aiming for at this point. Dave and Busters has looked at Orlando before, but from what I've heard has been gun shy because of the countless amounts of entertainment options. Chances are any Orlando D&B's wouldn't be downtown anyway. The company has a pretty lengthy record of opting for more suburban locations off major interstates. For example the Nashville location is by the Grand Ol' Opry...about 10 miles from downtown. The Atlanta locations are on the interstates in Gwinnett and Marrieta north of downtown. The Charlotte location is in the suburb of Concord. Jacksonville's is about 10 miles south of downtown. They have put them in high tourist areas in downtowns of some cities...NYC in Times Square, Chicago, Dallas (where they started). As a company they are very selective of location because of the overhead is so high. If I were a betting man, and if Orlando were to ever get a D&Bs it would be in Altamonte, Millenia, I-Drive, or LBV. I seriously doubt they'll ever consider downtown Orlando.
  18. My understanding is that it was an idea, but it was determined those who would likely have booths, couldn't afford the rent. You have to remember the building is very very expensive to rent in.

    The Plaza

Those who are interested, the official Magic watch party will be at Underground tomorrow night

    SunRail

Guys, I am all for the Sun Rail, but as someone who works for the government, I just took a 2% paycut because the state is running out of money. Sun Rail should and will happen, there just isn't enough money...even with the Federal help, to justify it now.

    Amway Center

That and out arena will be 800,000 sq (not 595,000 sq like the Bok Center). I know some are displeased by the outside of the arena. But they went ALL OUT on the interior. It will be the most state of the art and pleasing facility in indoor professional sports. There are a lot more to these facilities than the exterior.
  22. Ya..it's called air conditioning. This bar MAYBE lasts a year with these prices. They can't live off the summer months solely. Especially since spending by large businesses at conventions is down.
  23. Cool concept, but how many people are going to pay $35 a person to booze in an ice bar in Florida?

    Amway Center

Sunshine, The new arena in Brooklyn was $1B for the arena, not the surrounding buildings, which are being built through other funds. I understand the want of abtract buildings in the Orlando, but you don't want something that looks like a sore thumb around what else we have downtown. That is NYC, they can build stuff like that and get away with it because there is so much else around to over it up. That isn't teh case here. I like the new arena design and its simplicity.
