  1. I posted this in the Former Convention Center thread but figured I would add it here as well. I came across a blog about new projects in Nashville that includes what appears to be an updated rendering for the old CC redevelopment. No full rendering of the tower, but it looks like it may have a cleaner design.
  2. I came across this blog that appears to have some revised renderings for the old Nashville Convention Center redevelopment. No rendering of the full tower, but it looks like a cleaner design judging from the bottom portion.
  3. ^ That's a photo of Detroit.
  4. Looks like a new elevation for 1201 Demonbreun that gives the height relationship with 1212. Still a little bummed about the height of this one, but I bet the 1212 penthouse buyers are happy about the reduction. I wonder if something will be done to the gray box on the top to add some interest to the design.
  5. My partner and I tried In N Out when we were just in Vegas with a friend from LA. The friend from LA was raving about it, but we both found it overrated as well. Solid burger and good fries, but hardly the life-changing fast food experience like some folks make it out.
  6. Notice that building was demolished last week as well. It looked like it had been pretty heavily vandalized prior to demolition. I'm not sure what's going on near the old precinct either, but I'm definitely curious about what will be added to Nashville West. I'm crosses my fingers for something other than the typical lifestyle center store, but not get my hopes up.
  7. That's awesome for Birmingham. That have a nice urban fabric and it look like they are starting to get things moving there. The rumor seems to be that a Whole Foods is in the works for Capital View which I definitely think is more impressive to have downtown than Publix (although arguably less practical). Ron also suggested that other grocers may be looking around downtown. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Publix soontoo given how long one seems to have been rumored for around the core. We already know we're on their radar.
  8. Maybe they'll trade us a light rail line too if we give them Lake Palmer and toss in Bellevue Mall as a bonus. Sounds like a fair trade, right?
  9. I don't think anyone is suggesting 1212 is the Chrysler Building, but I'd say it's exponentially better than the majority of Nashville residential towers particularly the The Rhythm right across the highway. That one looks like someone took it from Panama City and dropped it in the middle of Nashville. Now, that's our low bar. 1212 is fine. Every residential tower doesn't need an adorned crown of some sort. Again, I think 1212 will look more attractive once they've put on the finishing touches on the top (which appeared in progress when I ventured downtown an hour ago) and get the lighting up. The blue lighting scheme will probably make quite a pop at night coming up from 65 at night. 1212 will also be mostly obscured by 12th & Demonbreun when one comes around the downtown loop from I-40.
  10. I actually quite like the clean and simple look of 1212. It sort of reminds me of this residential tower in Columbus that I've always liked. It should look more sleek once they finish the line at the top of the tower with the lighting. We also have to remember that a presumably more eye-catching office tower is also going up right next to it.
  11. Agree. TJ is much more affordable compared to Whole Foods and I would kill to have another one nearby without the headache-inducing parking lot like the one in Green Hills.
  12. A Whole Foods practically downtown would be quite a coup for Nashville. It would also be great to get a Publix somewhere nearby.
  13. Already lost my cellphone in Vegas. Fortunately, Yelp has tons... http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/walgreens-las-vegas-2?select=xhe6AMo3p1rYGOEvH_7-sA#xhe6AMo3p1rYGOEvH_7-sA
  14. I'm in Las Vegas at the moment and just stopped by the Walgreens at the Venetian. This is the nicest Walgreens I have ever seen in my life. It literally feels like a mini department & grocery store with a cosmetic boutique and a juice bar. To be honest, it looks nicer than most of the department and grocery stores in Nashville. I was originally against the idea of placing a Walgreens on Lower Broadway. But if the Walgreens is as nice as the one here on The Strip, then I will be 100% on board and I'm sure most downtown residents & visitors would be too.
  15. Hopefully we will get a rendering for this soon. I'm still a little peeved about the antebellum home being torn down. This proposal better look bad ass.
  16. The Tennessean article suggests the hotel may be a JW Marriott.
  17. Is this completely unaffiliated with the Westin project on the KVB roundabout?
  18. ^ Metro Cafe Diner. I usually swing by there when I stay in downtown Atlanta. ATL doesn't have the most vibrant downtown for a city its size, but it has some great 24/7 diners. I agree that this will be a much welcomed addition if executed correctly.
  19. It's definitely a congested stretch during rush hours and busy but manageable during the remainder of the day.
  20. Hopefully Capital View will have a similar look and feel to their Bethesda Row project!
  21. ^ Agree with incorporating the structure into the design. If the Federal Reserve building can be converted into apartments, then I imagine the UMP building could as well. I really hope they go tall for the hotel tower. At least 30 floors would be ideal. That's such a prominent location. It deserves a strong tower.
  22. It's a shame the owners couldn't hold out another year or two. I think Buena Vista is just about to take off. Let's hope it was in too much disrepair to salvage.
