  1. I've still been using this link and it has been working for me: Meeting Calendar - Grand Rapids, Michigan (iqm2.com) but on your link, if I click on the three vertical dots (idk what that is called) on the right side of the meeting, i can still access the packets as well.
  2. Drove past The Current today. They are working on framing out the top floor IMO the height really meshes well with the other buildings on the neighborhood
  3. An LA-based venture capitalist firm is leasing office space in 61 Commerce Ave (right by Stellas) The Right Place | New National VC Firm Entrepreneur Ventures Leases…
  4. Drove past Fat Boy today and was surprised to see a for sale sign on the building. I know there place is a bit of an institution but I think the owners have kind of checked out in recent years. Spot has so much potential.
  5. When I look at the rendering, I don't understand why the shipping containers to be located where they are. It looks like if they were moved to the other side, then food trucks could drive along the right side of the structure and that would eliminate weird concept of designing the building so that food trucks can drive through it.
  6. I read that article too but couldn't decide to discuss it (Creston, Monroe North, West Side...) I would love to see housing on that site, but I also kind of like that they are holding the city's feet to the fire on this. When we talk about riverfront redevelopment it always seems to come with a veil of mystery (at least to me). I would love to see more concrete plans and timelines put out there.
  7. I feel like it has to be.... I am a fan of them after watching the Lofts on Grove go up so quickly.
  8. Shinola's Grand Opening announcement includes a sketch w/ the clock they will be mounting to the building. I drove by today and it doesn't look like its up yet, but there is a bracket in the spot where it is depicted so I am hopeful that this will actually happen!
  9. I know we have mixed feelings about being on these lists, but at least this time they used a decent photo for GR The best American cities to buy a home in 2024 (msn.com)
  10. Yeah, this article just before Christmas was talking about the arcade concept they had added. it seemed very optimistic about the future....I wonder what changed? ‘Underground Arcade’ takes shape at Grand Rapids brewery - mlive.com
  11. Food truck Street Chef Shaw ("African Inspired Street Food with a Twist") is opening a brick and mortar called Mizizi in the old Rinaldi's space next to Quinn and Tuites in Creston. The grand opening is set for this Friday. I haven't tried the food yet, but i've heard good things about the truck... Food truck Street Chef Shaw plans Creston restaurant | Crain's Grand Rapids Business (crainsgrandrapids.com)
  12. Anyone have any insider knowledge on this project? Feels like forever since we have heard a peep about it…
  13. I drove down plainfield just now and almost every block i noticed something changing or recently changed: - Arcane Pizza has their sign up, which looks nice - The Lofts on Grove apartments were getting appliances delivered (there were like 20 washing machines unloaded on the curb). This must be a sign that they are close to completion... - The crane at The Current was active and moving - Looks like they started working on the roof of the new wine/flower shop - There were some work trucks at 2130 Plainfield, which is another sign of life for that potential restaurant that has been talked about for some time. They had the bay door open and one of the trucks was backed into the building... - "Three Blue Brushes" art studio is opened next to Nourish Kitchen in Cheshire Village. I hadn't heard of this place before but it looks like they offer classes: About Us — Three Blue Brushes
  14. Hell, if done right this would be good for Creston too. Connecting the three areas with more walkable/bikeable infrastructure. I would love to see the intersection of plainfield and leonard to become more pedestrian friendly.
  15. another article on this: Developers back city’s latest plan to spur riverfront projects | Crain's Grand Rapids Business (crainsgrandrapids.com) Crains GR has been putting out some good development content.
  16. Why do you describe the amphitheater as “redundant”?
  17. I was wondering what the deal was with that proposed 10-story building at Leonard. There was also that apartment building proposed right next to the hotel just south of Ann Street. I don't know if that one is still in the works or not...
  18. Same. These kinds of places are a no brainer for GR. We have a young, active population itching for things to do, but a good portion of the year we have pretty crappy weather. Between the duckpin bowling, the bocce place, and now this, we will have some fun alternatives to traditional bars during the winter.
  19. If this was so important to them, why wait to get involved now? it's been public knowledge for about 2 years. This train has left the station, folks.
  20. damn, that’s exciting! Now can someone PLEASE do something with the mad grub/red ball jet building?
  21. There is finally something going into the old old mattress store at the corner of Ann and Plainfield...I'm a little unsure about the business model: I looked up their social media and they had a go-fund-me page setup to raise funds for the initial costs....maybe it will work out but i'm just not sure that there is demand for this kind of thing.
  22. Reno for the wine/flower shop near sweet and plainfield is in full swing
  23. This is a step in the right direction but I hate having no idea if an announcement is weeks, months, or years away…
  24. Sure, but when is a neighborhood Facebook group excited about change? I’m in several Creston groups and any time a new development or restaurant is announced people find something to complain about. It’s generally just a place where people go to rant. Not exactly where I would go for well-researched opinions.
