  1. That’s one thing I have loved about Charlotte vs Minneapolis is the many trees so close to the central business district (and beyond!). There is just a lot of concrete in Minneapolis... The original stadium that this one replaced did take up only half the space so the concrete plaza wasn’t nearly as large, but the Metrodome was entirely made of concrete with a fabric dome:
  2. “For other people, moving away is easier and they don't mind adapting to a new place and potentially being far from family and existing social networks.” ^This has been my experience so far since moving from Minneapolis. I just couldn’t take the winters anymore and most of my networks moved away before I did.
  3. Yeah, I always thought it was odd when they didn’t put a roof of the twins stadium. I think there have been games there where everyone was caked in snow. Retractable roofs are quite an engineering feat! You think so? I always thought it looked out of place in Minneapolis when they were building it, mainly because the buildings there are less flashy and more muted than Charlotte. I do think that kind of design would do much better here though, maybe with a brighter bluer color scheme?
  4. That is quite literally the best response and hopefully outcome I could imagine! How exciting!
  5. US Bank’s Minneapolis headquarters has always been one of my favorite buildings in downtown! You think they would buy one of the existing office towers in uptown, or construct a new one?
  6. That is true; When you stand at certain angles it does look like a Viking ship… Other angles it looks like random pieces of skyscraper placed at weird angles. [emoji23]
  7. That stadium looks so bizarre from the freeway… I always thought it looked like an alien spaceship landed in downtown! [emoji1787]
  8. I’m definitely curious to know how that will impact Charlotte. Would it be possible to see the GDP of Charlotte alone in the past two quarters? I know that most development projects are planning roughly for a few years economically in the future (which hopefully should maintain the momentum of many planned projects).
  9. I really love both plaza sculptures and trees in an urban environment so I can see the incentive to do either in a high profile spot. One thing I did note about the tree is that I did feel there wasn’t as much going on architecturally surrounding it whereas the plaza between Ally and Golden Cow had the cleverly placed pattern of benches and trees.
  10. Being a relatively new Charlotte resident and out of sheer curiosity; what did this weird disco bird look like?
  11. Totally agree, even outside of NC! Coming from the Midwest, it’s not even close to the hyper speed of what I have seen here in SouthEnd!

    Ballantyne

I know right? It’s hard to see the site unless you seek it out! Definitely make a trip out there! I thought I recognized that structure! Yes, that pond is massive and they have put in a lot of the roads too!

    Ballantyne

Progress at the Ballantyne Reimagined site! Here is what I was able to see from the Ballantyne Hotel! (Apparently the staff is so used to people trying to see the progress there they invite people in to get the best view!)
  14. That’s astounding!! Sounds like before long I’ll really be working in “the city” without relocating at all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Wow… So crazy to think how much everything will change so close to where I work! I really like Sandwich Max though… I’ll definitely keep eating there as much as I can while they are still around. Has any development been rumored for that site after all is said and done?
  16. Yeah, the food is delivered down to us like how banks used to have their tube systems. Mostly mobile order based but there was a conventional drive through on one of the lanes. I can’t remember if there was a walk-in portion though.
  17. How well do y’all think this would do in Charlotte? https://locations.tacobell.com/mn/brooklyn-park/5931-94th-ave-n.html?utm_source=yext&utm_campaign=googlelistings&utm_medium=referral&utm_term=039130&utm_content=website&y_source=1_MzkyNTc0NTItNzE1LWxvY2F0aW9uLndlYnNpdGU%3D I just recently had the chance to try it out - it was suuuper slick! 20. Haha I’ll keep an eye out for you! [emoji1787] I’m the one wandering around the construction sites on my “way” to Sandwich Max! [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. One of these days I’m going to catch you taking pictures of these buildings on one of my lunch breaks! [emoji1787][emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The footprint is really taking shape now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I went out of town for a week and a half and was shocked how much they got done while I was gone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’d be very curious to know how it will fit style-wise with this building and 110 East… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I can’t wait for the next one!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Ah yes good points, the skyscraper titans; Seattle and San Francisco! And Austin is definitely a powerhouse as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
