  1. Hate to be that person, but where do they expect people to park at? Costar, Manchester entrance to River, Canoe Run, or somewhere else? I know there's some parking now, but I can imagine the people in Oregon Hill is going to have a fit over this once this really pull in big crowds of people (they already do it on days like this).
  2. King William County is seemingly preparing for some growth in the area, especially in the Central garage area. In the article it mentions the possibility of a YMCA, Dunkin, and Dairy Queen coming, while Wawa, and Starbucks are in fact confirmed to be coming. The article also mentions that if all 1500 permitted is built that is it then likely that it could become "one of the fastest growing counties." Article: King William readies itself for growth with new housing, more on the way – Daily Press I can say as a person that travels to Tappahannock that this area is growing quite a bit.
  3. Construction of the Ice Hocky designee facility continues in Spring Rock Green with a big red crane starting to erect the structural frame of the facility.
  4. A great day for Norfolk Airport!
  5. I mean it's not exactly a secret that land subsidence is effecting Norfolk, since we keep drawing from the aquifers. It may not seem like the water is increasing from a naked eye, but during occasional storms there's been more flooding episodes. 6. Fencing enclosure is closed, and a huge jackhammer is at the site of the outlier project.
  7. How a new VCU School of Dentistry building would benefit all Virginians - VCU News - Virginia Commonwealth University Looks like VCU is still seeking State Govt support for the proposed Dental School.
  8. Better Housing Coalition has released a proposed sit plan of Highland Grove. They are also looking for input from the Community about this development. More Info: CE Studio - Highland Grove Project Webpage — Storefront for Community Design (storefrontrichmond.org) @RiverYuppy
  9. While I will be sad that the Monroe Building will be coming down, I think it's also important note how much of the skyline keeps expanding west. I mean look at it on the bright side, you got the new Costar tower (while it won't be known for it's accurate height in terms of floors, it will almost certainly have a huge impact on the skyline.) , YMCA development, New Supreme Court, Dominion tract , and others. I should also note the Manchester's skyline is also expanding quite nicely. In the City Center area, you have a whole new neighborhood essentially about to rise with a new tall hotel... I just wrote this to explain that things aren't exactly all doom and gloom around here.
  10. I think a 600ft tower would be perfect somewhere like where the dominion tower was at, and maybe add more meager towers in the parking areas of Monroe ward. I will say it's still a good skyline, but there is room for more improvement.

  14. The winds of Migration (according to U-Haul) continues in the favor of Commonwealth of Virginia. I don't exactly know how really accurate this is in catching migration, but I thought it would something interesting to post here. 15. We should be getting a formal design from VMFA regarding the expansion this year.
  16. It's starting to peek above the ground now (shafts).

  18. I will say that I'm very optimistic about our standing regarding the region, I mean jeez we could potentially add a little over 12,000 jobs in the future. Let's not also forget the amount of Government attention that we have been getting recently, whether it's the (FED) Government choosing to locate a Strategic medicine reserve here, or the fact that (State) VCU has been named one of the universities included within the Governors "Research Triangle of VA" program (pharmaceuticals). I think that there will more Government funding within the region for years to come, especially as Petersburg re-establishes itself as a manufacturing center. I think there will a "fairly large" announcement of jobs in the region, and a continued relocation of Headquarters. We have been seeing a "soft" migration of headquarters (namely in the bio sector) from California, I really don't know why it could be happening but it's starting to happen. Those two companies are SLOPE, and Aditxt, they really don't get big announcements since they are small, but once a fiscal statement and it says "Richmond" as the HQ it just you know happens. I'm very well hoping that we get a new highrise Downtown. I am also hoping that we could get automaker to build a plant somewhere in southside or chesterfield (Chester area), so that it will spur further investment in that since the casino failed. Also, so that the port of richmond could finally come back as a viable port (too many factors preventing it). I think the continued migration to Richmond will continue if the cost of housing doesn't rise too relatively quickly compared to wages. I think the Kickers might make a little bit of noise this year. Spring rock green will continue to be developed. Short Pump / Innsbrook may see a 10+ foot building proposal (remember that last one was shot down due to neighborhood resistance) Building height raises ire (richmond.com) GRP_EconomicAnalysis_Dec2022.pdf (grpva.com)

  20. Very random question, but isn't it about time Chesterfield carve out another county level district? I know the the time they did it was after the 2010 Census.
