  1. Why not just call it its actual name lol "Optimist Park"
  2. I think it'll start to shape up. There are actually balconies, and I think they'll be light-colored, to contrast the black on black, and then they plan a rail of local grasses, and pollinator flowers, that will break up the facade. I look at it everyday of the week, I'm starting to appreciate it's look, and the brickwork is awesome.
  3. Dawg, that second phase is basically complete. It's on my daily walking circuit.
  4. It definitely could, but 1000-room hotels require city subsidy, so that's why they are going the two hotel route. Hotels that have been attached to projects that didn't happen or second options for projects, so obviously there's interest. • Leows • Hyatt Regency • W Hotel – Someone already owns the rights to develop in Charlotte • Otis Hotel
  5. The city is actually planning to attract two 500-room hotels, one on this lot, and one directly beside the Hilton Garden, Hampton, The Madison 3-for-1 combo building. The land swap gave them control of two small lots and both hotels will be attached directly to the convention center.
  6. I think it'll be at the site of the practice facility its still on contiguous property owned by the stadium. Same could be done with Hornets current facility when the new one is built.
  7. I need to stop posting at 10PM LOLLLLLLLL
  8. Its definitely a possibility that TC sinks significant effort into bringing more retail to this area of uptown. I would also expect Tepper builds a Sports Betting mecca somewhere.
  9. Target anchored, and I really think this will be South End's first town center, and will bring a ton of retail to the area. If I was going to invest in Charlotte it would be near this center. I think Gold District is poised to become a new bar district, with Mint connecting to Summit & Bland, with more spreading toward Winnifred and South Tryon. I don't see Gold District getting much in the way of experiential and softgoods retail. I also think the area around skiptown will start to feel like a bar district, there are more building conversions on the horizon. I really think future phases around the design center, the eventual replacement of Carolina Foods, upgrades to strips along South Blvd will lead to a pretty robust strollable retail hot spot.
  10. lol, why? Because it's taken a long time? I don't think you know how rigorous going through Historic Districts Commission can be.
  11. That'll be Queensbridge, but it could be the second tallest for now.
  12. Maybe the Drive for Center City Retail thread? https://forum.urbanplanet.org/topic/51157-drive-for-center-city-retail/page/16/#comment-1499684
  13. Linea really turned out so much taller than I would have ever expected.
  14. They will rebuild the actual facade using the actual materials
  15. Foundation was insane, from what I understand, the water table is like right there,
  16. White Point is targeting a full service hotel now. 110 East companion buildng renovation is a temporary solution.
  17. they are currently operating at 33% the membership as they were pre-Covid
  18. Won't happen lol, the hotel is pretty important to the financial viability of the entire project.
  19. Kinda stunned nobody has posted me and Jason's posts on here. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4dDYk1OKEc/
  20. They manage and distribute a couple billion dollars worth of philanthropic giving throughout the entire Charlotte region, so saying "practically nothing for 10 years" is a wild assertion. The reality is this was a very challenging project, and they have restored a falling-down theatre into an immaculate work of art, that will open at the end of this year. As far as the hotel goes, There were 3 full years where the chosen financing for the hotel was pretty much locked down by the federal government. Now there is a massive backlog of EB-5 Visas, the investment of which will fund the hotel itself.
  21. I definitely agree, but it'll take a lot to get that highway to grade.
