  1. Hard disagree on our connected greenways, especially when used for commuting. Our current greenway system is again a vanity project for South Charlotte with very little viability for commuters to Uptown. Stewart Creek barely runs a half mile outside of Uptown, with limited entry points from neighborhoods. We have no connection anywhere on the East side of Charlotte. North side is getting a little traction, but I dare anyone to try and bike across the Matheson bridge and tell me that is a legitimate commuter route. Inside of Uptown, there are hardly any options besides biking on the street which anyone who has ridden here can attest is dicey at best with our drivers and their attitudes towards bikes. The newly completed 6th Street Cycle Track which is the only protected lane through Uptown (Rail Trail is basically unusable for bicycle commuting due to station design) isn't even connected to the Little Sugar Creek. I guess they consider crossing 2 major streets using pedestrian signals and crosswalks (by design according to CoC) and then across 7th Street is somewhat connected... I love our Greenways, I'm on them almost everyday. But we are very much an extremely far stretch away from best in the country. If there was funding for some of the additional proposed routes on their map I could at least say they are working on it, but the lack of funding and resistance for even the XClt Trail which we are still years away from even UNCC connection to Little Sugar Creek makes me doubtful of any major changes in the next several years.
  2. The atmosphere at the home games so far has been electric, far more exciting than Panthers games in BOA. Sitting in the supporters section for the goal in the 6th minute felt like we had just won a major tournament; the crowd went absolutely bananas. Highly recommend going to a game for anyone on the fence about soccer and the support here in the QC.
  3. That is 100% an already designed tower for Cesar's Palace that was never built 30 years ago but Johnny loved the architecture so much from his "global" travels
  4. They are all valet anyways. Move them over to the N & S streets and build the little heated(cooled in NC) curbside tents like Chicago/NYC
  5. The greenway extension between 10th Street and Jackson is really nice! Decent hill climb but it is constant and you have awesome skyline views going the other direction. Agree with @Nathan2though the "protected bike lanes" across Central are full of trash constantly and the car lanes on Central are very narrow, I wouldn't be surprised if a pedestrian fatality occurs due to a driver running right through the plastic bollards
  6. Just make Trade busses and Gold Line only and throw in another cross city cycletrack with the leftover space. You already have dedicated 1 way lanes on both sides with 4th and 5th street for vehicular cross city traffic.
  7. All of the supporters groups are having a combined tailgate at 703 McNinch from 2-6 and then marching to the stadium together
  8. Glad to see that Cabarrus 1st grade math class is being retained
  9. Counterpoint: Most people would opt to use mass transit if not for significant subsidies by fed agencies.
  10. We got supporters tickets and I can't find out if there is a dedicated place to buy additional tickets for current season ticket holders. You can list them directly through Ticketmaster but I think I can only see the general Ticketmaster sales site
  11. A couple of properties bought under the name Apex Parkwood LLC. 1102-1112 Parkwood Ave.
  12. Please do not promote the false narrative that people are staying at home collecting unemployment checks. We are sub 4% unemployment rates for both the US and NC; essentially back to where we were pre-pandemic. There is no such thing as a labor shortage, Mac's is simply not paying a competitive market wage. https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-unemployment-rate.htm
  13. People live there currently. One was for sale about 3 years ago that I looked at because it was the only chance to live near Latta Park for less than $1M. Funky little condos with some cool character, but unfortunately suffering from the same fate as many HOA condos; depleted funds that pay for lawn maintenance only with no reserves. The unit had sold twice in the previous 7 years and each time had listed "new roof coming!" I asked the neighbors and they said they had to pay for individual roof repairs and internal damage from constant leaks on their units because the special assessment could never pass..
  14. They were in there before Salty Parrot closed and even sold it on draft there. I've seen it bottled in a few local restaurants as well.
  15. You only shop online due to fear of flash retail mobs? Then go on to say it breaks your heart that small business owners struggle to put food on the table for their families after saying you only shop online in the same sentence? Good grief. I don't even think Tucker Carlson could bullcrap this much. Nobody is defending stealing. Everyone thinks it is wrong. People are just complaining about the Fox News level fear mongering political posts masquerading around this site from people who love calling out posts for breaking political rules on this site when they are from the other side of the aisle. This isn't the petty theft thread or the look at how awful California is thread. Flash mob retail robbery stories from LA are not relevant and should not be on this site.
  16. That's the most creative way I've heard of saying prefab parking decks are the cheapest to build... Easy to dismantle LOL
  17. It is also their first comment about pedestrian safety, 21 days into "Pedestrian Safety Month", and featuring primarily not-pedestrians...
  18. You're sandwiched between the airport and Charlotte's only coal burning power plant. I'm all for greenways/bike trails through suburban neighborhoods but come on, surely mecca is laying it on a little thick for marketing.
  19. Exactly. This is actually less dense than even Waverly. There is only 1 small portion that you could reasonably consider walkable to mixed use and the rest are mostly single family suburban neighborhoods that will drive to the "Town Center" to go out to eat. I imagine the "Town Center" to be essentially be Kingsly in Fort Mill with the surrounding area resembling the Riverwalk in Rock Hill. Certainly a good suburban project, but by no means an additional urban center for the city.
  20. You ever sniff too much glue in your mom's basement?
  21. I read Reddit for fun so it is funny to see posts like this that are just one big copy paste of all the reasons why we are so close to blowing the top off the global markets but the big bad hedge funds keep doing illegal things to stop it and not, a bunch of people made 1000X their investments in memestocks that popped and hedge funds took a huge loss but we will continue to sucker people into holding a wildly overpriced stock to maintain its crazy evaluations. 6 months ago you were sure it was about to go any day and in 6 months you'll be back again. The link you posted said there is a 75% chance of BOA going bankrupt which absolutely would trigger the largest financial meltdown we've ever seen. EVEN IF all of the conspiracy theories you are reading on highly moderated, anonymous forums with no actual economical backing behind it were true; the US still wouldn't allow BOA to go under.
  22. Ours is absolutely worse. This rendering might get worse if they do the same as Charlotte and just slap a beige rectangle behind the Truist names but at least this tower gets smaller at the top unlike Hearst. I actually kind of like the "T" logos at the top.
  23. LOL. Listen man, you made a little money off a memestock, be happy about that. The total collapse of the global financial system isn't happening.
  24. I mean, yeah? What other major cities do you expect to be more expensive? Outside of Atlanta and Florida we are clearly the largest city in the Southeast.
  25. 2 blocks is all it would take. College to Church and you wouldn't even have to redo any on/off ramps to 277. It sure would make that new Uptown Cabaret tower that much more appealing to overlook a brand new park heading into Uptown.
