  1. In Holland news: https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2022/02/waterfront-hotel-cruise-ship-dock-proposed-near-downtown-holland.html
  2. I keep coming back to two complexities that may be involved with this deal (pure speculation)…. Tribal involvement and gambling. To move either of those properties into tribal ownership isn’t there a process of putting the property into trust that goes through federal government? And additional complexity if it includes gambling licensing?
  3. Metro Health (smirk) since that name is no longer in use…
  4. Seems like the process of those charrettes was pretty effective then. The guidance this gave to development seems to have been pretty positive to me.

  7. It was in this thread a little over a year ago (roughly)…. Here’s a site: https://www.avbinc.com/commercial-construction/projects/peerless-flats/
  8. On further review, mostly apartments in the Peerless Flats development: 124 rental apartments, ranging from studio apartments to three-bedroom units; nine owner-occupied townhome/condominiums along Second Street
  9. Condos going up kitty-corner from this property
  10. I would think that the revamp of farmer’s market will stick, so parking is likely to remain along with that. Further down the road, there are shops in the berm of the slope. I think that open sight line is what people there ideally would envision. I don’t think there’s vertical space to replicate that concept on Chinook Pier site though.
  11. That’s not realistic for logistical reasons. Load-in/out of shows would necessitate moving gear up a floor from docks to arena floor and that just won’t fly.
  12. That’s interesting. This and similar comments is what I was reflecting: “The guidelines for redeveloping Chinook Pier also call for limiting buildings to one story with a mezzanine, similar to what was there before.”
  13. Pretty sure that’s what they asked for though. That’s where the issue lies…
  14. I don’t disagree at all on that point. Just found it interesting and thought others on this topic would as well…
  15. Thought of this thread when this article appeared today from Detroit Free Press: For 1st time in Michigan history, more people died than were born in 2020 https://www.freep.com/story/news/health/2022/01/26/deaths-outpaced-births-michigan-1st-time-2020/6584958001/
  16. While I can understand your point, those are important nonprofit projects. The Rosa Parks renovation to me is the most underwhelming of the bunch.
  17. Gracewil has to be a site to watch for residential development too
  18. In the past I’d heard DeVos family opposed casino gaming. That may have been just Rich DeVos…
  19. That’s a fun dream. After hearing a lot about Miami struggling with attendance at football games because they don’t have an on-campus stadium, I have to wonder if any schools have done well with stadiums that are not on their main campus…
  20. Geographic fit is my question about OVC… closest school in the league is almost 350 miles from G.R. It’s really a TN/KY league.
  21. This kind of begs the question of WSU... they've got to be making same calculations and looking at their options...
  22. Relevant article from The Lanthorn: Moving On Up? GV Athletics disputes football recruits’ claims of a move to DI – Grand Valley Lanthorn
  23. I wonder if there are other GLIAC schools making this move with GVSU. It would be challenging to have 100% of away games be so far away for fans, and disappointing for the rivalries to all disappear...
