  1. Now Wells Fargo is moving their HQ here? Every day this forum surprised me in new ways.
  2. I’m sure Lime has expanded into Raleigh/Durham now, but originally only NCSU had them. I’ve never considered buying my own bike, but I did use Spin daily. It’s just more convenient to leave it wherever you want.
  3. NC State had Lime bikes about 3 months before Charlotte itself, not Raleigh. Raleigh has had plans for bike sharing since 2011, but they weren’t approved until 2016, with an estimated arrival this year. Charlotte has had bike sharing since 2012, and still has many more options than the entire Triangle.
  4. Sign up to be a “juicer” for Lime and get paid to charge them. It’s completely free.
  5. Pretty sure BOAC will remain the tallest tower in Charlotte that actually gets completed for the forseable future.
  6. I feel like my posts are being taken in the wrong context. There is nothing wrong with the Discovery Place. The tread topic in which I was replying to is about the lack of tourist attractions in Uptown that would assist in filling the rooms of a 1,000 room hotel when there are no major conventions. There is no need for residents of Charlotte to stay in this hotel, therefore the destinations to locals are irrelevant (the Discovery Place).
  7. Those half a million visitors were more than likely made up of elementary and middle school field trips.
  8. No one outside of elementary and middle schoolers know what the Discovery Place is.
  9. So funny such a big deal was made about the non-approved scooters just for them to approve them a week later.
  10. Finally an actual upscale store announced for the upscale mall.
  11. I agree that a hotel of that size needs to come with some type of attraction with it. Half of those hotel rooms will sit empty during a regular season with all of the new rooms coming into the market. A 975-room Kalahari Resort broke ground in Texas today accompanied by a convention center.
  12. I noticed it, guess it wasn’t installed the last time I walked past lol.
  13. BOAC with no street level friendliness will still be a bigger draw for the simple fact of it’s status. No one is going to go to Stonewall to take pictures of the buildings unless you’re architecture nerds like us.
  14. The city is being over dramatic. Is the difference between the already-approved bikes and an electric scooter really that significant?
  15. The construction site suggests they aren’t fake.
  16. I’ve seen the plans. It’s a double launched coaster by Mack. Nothing like it in the country and another multi-million dollar investment to the park.
  17. Same price as the same from Five Guys except better food.
  18. Shake Shack officially opens tomorrow at 11am. A second location has been announced for early 2019 in Blakeney Village.
