Is this the longest we've gone without a tall building being under construction in DTO in a while? Lot's of stuffed planned but seems like nothings going up lately.

I was surprised to read the tallest building in Hartford (537 ft) is taller than the tallest building in Baltimore (529 ft). In other Hartford trivia; the Travelers Tower in Hartford (527 ft) built in 1919 was the tallest building in the world outside of NYC at the time it was built.

Tax revenue is obviously the reason. It sucks that ballot initiatives need 60% to pass in Florida or else I'd say this is basically guaranteed to pass. In 2020 a $15/hr minimum wage was still considered pretty radical yet it still got at least 60% support in Florida so maybe there is some hope for marijuana legalization in Florida.

A saying on a statue isn't considered law. The illegal immigrants are breaking the law. I don't think this country was meant to be the world's toilet for the rest of the world to dump all their problems into. People from other countries have figured out a gaping loophole in our system. All they have to is cross our border illegally and meet border patrol and claim "asylum" then they get escorted into our country to get their freebies. The asylum laws weren't created for every single person in the world who thinks they have a tough life to get to come and stay here. Many Americans have tough lives too. It was meant for people who are facing a legitimate catastrophe such as a genocide.

I'm against illegal immigration, but mostly for liberal reasons. We're constantly told that our country doesn't have enough money for Medicare for all or free community college, yet we seem to have plenty of money to pay for the millions of illegals who come here every year. They can't have it both ways.
