  1. Well, the rendering shows that it is sandwiches Bainbridge Blvd. on the bottom and the Elizabeth River. That narrows it down a bit. ...found it on maps.... if you follow Bainbridge and the south branch of the Elizabeth River past the highrise bridge you'll see that little spit of land stick out into the river just before the road intersects with Rt17. Turn the map so Bainbridge runs left and right and you'll match it up.
  2. Yes urbanvb, there was a cafe there. My friend owned the Fred Astaire dance studio right next to it. The shopping center was called Giant Square for the Giant supermarket there. There was a skate shop as well.
  3. I was also thinking block 9. Hasn't it been advertised as an "entertainment" block for some time. There were origial plans or a movie theater and such.
  4. Notice the outlined rectangular prism :) says "Phase 2 residential tower."
  5. It looks like THEY'RE calling it Uptown Virginia Beach too. http://www.visitvirginiabeach.com/uptown-virginia-beach/
  6. I found on the http://www.saunderscrousearchitects.com/sample.html site the first renderings that I've seen of this hotel. They are the architecture firm that bought out CMSS, town center's architects, I believe.
  7. Jackpot! I was looking around google images for "Town Center North" and found unusual pictures focusing on the pembroke office park. The text mirrors what was said from the old CMSS architects website about town center, but he four banners and multiple images per banner you can click through obviously show the North development. Enjoy! It is interesting why they show their "history" and "vision" for the pembroke office park, but highlight their "reality" and "culture" for TC. Weird. You'll see what I mean when you visit their website. http://www.saunderscrousearchitects.com/towncenter.html Here they are for instant gratification: It looks like 3 Pembroke originals will be staying. Two more parcels are not rendered to the left up VB blvd from the tallest building. They are shown in blue on the first pic though. Pembroke Station, huh? Notice the curved street. That's a bit funky!
  8. I say plain ol' downtown has a good ring to it.
  9. Awe! The Hyatt Place was the cooler one!
  10. Take note to see how much comes true: I was on the to deck of the Lynnhaven Mall parking garage watching the Blue Angels today. I spoke with a security officer there who said they are going to knock half of the garage down (from the ramp to the mall) and build possibly "higher end" restaurants, possibly in a plaza like the "inlet" side. (I'm paraphrasing). JC Penny wants to keep there side of the garage and sky walk, so from the ramp-left will stay. Has anyone heard anything similar?
  11. Yesterday I came across the loopnet listing for the tower which said it was updated 14 days ago and had about 9 floors off the listing.
  12. JPN, apparently the rumor now is that Wegman's is now gonna be in the old HQ building across from Town Center.
  13. Like a consolation prize for not choosing Norfolk?
  14. Love the DB Vienna Lager and Smoked Lager.
  15. Yea! I was't being facetious. It's the one here- It's not exactly the same, but the design elements used by CMSS architects were certainly prevailent.
  16. The buildings in the second pic were moved to N.N. City Ceter.
  17. Yea. That the tower. Originally Gateway Bank was gonna anchor it...and Crate and Barrel presumably from the renderings. That would still be cool! Yes. There are other digital renderings showing the VB Blvd view with Crate and Barrel on the ground floor.
  18. The mention of a 20 story tower on the beacon lot is cool. it's good tha it is still in the picture.
  19. it reminds me of what Lynnhaven Mall and The Main are doing. Let's knock down part of the mall and reduce it's size, renovate it, then call it fully leased and a success!, or... let's charge the same for a smaller project than originally agreed upon and still call it a good deal.
  20. This is amazing! Sorry if I'm late to the party, but I don't remember seeing this on this forum. A great animation of the construction of the new Lesner Bridge. The gantry crane is very cool! Great music too.
  21. If Wegmans bought HQ, then there goes urban redevelopment for that area, huh?
  22. That's an assanine argument of which I know you agree. One of the charms of a downtown- old and new, big and small, diff arch. designs next to each other. Remember Freemason went from this to that. I know height in the Freemason neighborhood was a issue, but still. Norfolk has many examples of squashing unique (different) tower designs for the mundane.
