  1. Rus- Near Regent Univ.? I see that two times a week driving down I-64. Looks like the whole steel frame is up. There is a long crane truck on site. Sorry, I don't know any technical names for these construction vehicles. Metalman
  2. , Stunad If you take a look at the Master Plan on the Town Center website you can see the Dicks/Westin and AH/Pemobroke skywalks identified. BTW- I really like the design of the theater. The sounds wierd coming from a Libra, but I really like the asymetrical design of the building.I was kinda leary of it at first but after I saw multiple renderings and detailed schematics and floor plans of the interior, I must say it looks great and the interior is classy and functional for the audience as well as the performers. I can't wait to perform in it! Metalman
  3. Speaking of the skywalk between the A/H and Pembroke. I watch a city council meeting last summer (or so) and the presenter said that after the Suntrust branch's least ends this year they will buy the property and construct a multi-level building to link the brigde from the A/H tower. I remember that vividly. So hopefully they are just waiting for Suntrust's lease to run out.
  4. Do you mean "Naro"? That's the Arts/Independent theater on Colley Ave in Ghent.
  5. Trader Joe's for the Market I was thinking Crate and Barrell for the housewares. The closest one is in Richmond For the brewery slated next to Keagan's...The Taphouse maybe? Or... The Hilltop Brewery is a stones throw from G.F. Keagans so, would the Hilltop Brewery follow Keagan's to the Town Center?
  6. Has anyone mention the retail project at the Kmart site (I'm assuming where the old Merchant's Tire was)? They have a rendering of the retail project on the corner of Columbus and VB Blvd. (Ruby Tuesday's) facing the blvd. Does anyone have any info.
  7. Hmm, is 7-11 getting ready for City Walk or something. If I'm thinking of the right street, then there is not much over there but some industrial and a trailer park. I mean...that is a side street. Is that Columbus?
  8. All the houses we went in were 500k and up. I'm sorry, I didn't clarify. There were also a few townhouses that were open. They were very nice as well. In the development are also apartments, duplexes and triplexes (I'd guess you'd call them). If I'm not mistaken, financial help is available for the lower income homes. But, of course for Homarama they are going to show the best of the best.
  9. So I went to Homarama at Broad Creek today with my fiance. We liked it a lot. To me the neighborhood was laid out like a transitions between suburan neighborhoods and urban living. Mean that there was grass, yes. But, mostly used just as a nice boarder between houses. There's not much to let your kids play in. But the greenery that did 'boarder' the houses were well landscaped, some had water features, one even had a putting green on the side yard! Most of the houses, I'd say, were colonial 2 stories, some planation style, and a couple I'd call modern. They were all in the $500,000 + range. The footage in all but one house we went into were near 3000 sq. ft. or above. We saw what seemed to be 'in' as far as color, fabrics, materials-Light sagey greens, creams, some slate blue/gray. Small 1/2 baths has bold colors like blood red/black, green. Wallpaper seems to be back. Mini-blinds out, woven rattan or bamboo blinds in. Stone floors in kitchens and dining, exotic wood floors like bamboo in the halls/ gathering rooms. Valved ceilings above master beds with chandlers. FREAKING HUGE master bathrooms with a jetted tub/jacuzzi and stand up showers w/ sperated toilet, most had two sinks and the walk in closet joined to the master bath. All in all the floorplans were very wide open, tons of natural light. Some had neat features like cameras at front door so you can see who is there from a monitor inside. One house had a thumb print ID access to front door instead of a key Great time! We got good ideas for out new house that we haven't even moved into yet. Here is a link to the Pilont Online page. It has a couple vids and pics of all the houses. http://home.hamptonroads.com/calendar/deta...m?eventID=48501 Anyone else go? Metalman
  10. Well, I'm in it neck deep! My fiance and I just signed the contract on a house in Va. Beach this past monday!!! We should close on it mid-November. I am very excited to get in there and call it our own. But, I'm also disheartened by the fact that 1 1/2 years ago the house was worth probably 50K dollars less. But anyhow for todays market we found a great house on a good deal in a really good neighborhood and we still might have a few bucks left over at the end of the day We're getting married next summer. BTW, we had told our real estate agent the both our birthdays are this week and what a good present this was to us. So, she gave us two tickets to the Homarama. We are going to go today (when I go to sleep and wake back up 'cause it's damn near 3:30AM) at about noon and try to get some style/organizational/color scheme/decoration ideas. I'll post my opinions afterwards if anyone cares. Later, metalman
  11. Were is the Moe's going? The only one I know of is on 21st St. in Ghent. That place rocks!
  12. Were the pics from this morning (9/29)? I take the interstate in the AM west to independence and there was a huge back up like I haven't seen in a long time. I think there was an accident up near Witchduck.
  13. I passed Cheeseburger In Paradise a couple weeks ago. I want to say it had a green roof. But, all I have to say is, if their margaritas are anywhere close to the margaritas at Margaritaville at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas (I was there last month) then I'll be there every night and stumbling home They were the best margaritas I've ever had! It was kind of ironic after being in Vegas for my first time and at Buffets place, they I come back and here of CB in P opening up here. It was a cool place. I can't wait to see how this compares. Metalman
  14. But think of it this way. The urban setting where Target was going to go can now be used for something else Maybe another scraper!
  15. I'm 25. I've lived here my whole life but have much of my family up north. Music has taken me to so many place I wouldn't have gone otherwise. I am a elementary music teach, teach drums and piano (mostly) privately, a columnist for DRUM! Magazine, Co-own a music transcribing company in which I transcribe drum and percussion parts for books which have been published by WB, Hal Leonard and other music publishers, and am a performing drummer/percussion. A proud graduate from ODU...where I watched A LOT of development go up my last couple years there. I also am a hobbiest mech/hot rodder...on my own car... and just have a general interest in construction/urban develoment/high rises. I usually read here more than I post cause I don't have much knowledge on the subject, just love "watchin' 'em rise" so to speak. Later, Metalman
  16. So long as #4 doesn't TOUCH the Village Inn! That place freakin' rocks! How many of you agree? It the best place for breakfast foods and there cakes and deserts are awesome, especially there rhubarb pie. I been to the village inn after or for sooo many occasion- For breakfast, for dinner, lunch, desert, breakfast for dinner, breakfast for desert, grub after a VB Amphitheater concert, grub after a gig, after bar grub, after church breakfast , a coffee and bullsh**ing outing, dates , and even an after bachelor party sobering up grub . Now tell me... where else can you do that ....and do even try to compare them to IHOP Now discuss... Oh, and as far as the Convention Center "headquarter hotel"- Did everyone forget about the 12 or so story Double Tree that is like 10 feet away from it? That is pretty damn headquarters if you ask me. Just build a sky walk or tunnel and there, is there headquarter hotel. Metalman
  17. And ODU's teams are doing great. Men and womens basketballs rocked this year. I did follow them really closely, but I read the headlines I am an ODU alumni and I definately support a football team...and maybe for a skued reason, he he he. I was a music major.. percussionist , graduated in 2002 and march a DCI drum and bugle corps prior to college(if any of you happen to know what DCI is). Being ODU doesn't have a football team, ODU doesn't have a marching band. So, if they get a football team, they'll FINALLY get a marching band. That would be great for recruitment for ODU's fine arts college annd music department. Metalman
  18. Most of my family lives in Long Island, NY. The friends of my cousins I speak to know this area. 1-because of the military and 2.-because of Virginia Beach's beach. I also specific where I live by saying Southeastern Virginia-on the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay. I think there high school education teaches them the geography of the Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Metalman
