  1. rather them take their time and have the right project than do something half ass, just to do something. It is a pretty pivotal location that could be awesome
  2. RDF, did I miss something or is this new and under the radar "a new very tall skinny hotel at 11th and Tryon"?? and what do you consider "very tall"?
  3. wish the alley could be done like the Milk Market in Denver
  4. can RDF add FNB, alley, and intercontinental (if it makes the frame) to this view?
  5. from the visible area on the north side of the 7 floors facing college, it looks like good glass coverage of the parking deck as well, though can't see the College and side....
  6. sounds like they wanted to see their sign from inside of the stadium and 277..wait till they add the roof.....
  7. have been to a couple of Indy and Denver conventions and the space dwarfs Charlotte's. Even if you have the big bed hotel, you may not get the conventions based on the space in CLT's convention center unfortunately... but it would still help the city for some conventions and in general.
  8. is there a height released yet? guessing 375'? slightly shorter than Ally?
  9. wish the hotel closest to 277 was 9 stories and the one closest to stonewall was 13 to break up the wall and for pics from southend. Could have been an easy ask/requirement by developer which then gives you 5 story apartment, 20 floor tower, 13 story hotel, and 9 story hotel to create contrast... also underwhelmed by how the plaza off of the light rail was integrated ... when I was there last week it was just dead.... other than that lots better than nothing there
  10. Maybe we can get that style pyramid on the new DEC
  11. Any hunch on timeframe on a second tower at legacy? Would it be a tall condo/hotel or 20 floor office first or something else since it looks like 4 possible developable corners to select from?
  12. So did this wind up staying at 33 floors and 632’ instead of the added two floors and 650+. ?
  13. Visited my son in Boulder in December and seeing the photo above, I thought I would share the shipping container house just finishing up on the Hill. Wish Charlotte was more funky and modern from a residential perspective.
  14. Overall a great project that we would have been gushing over in '12 or '13 just a couple of years back .... the original Crescent splash spoiled expectations.. while Little still made a lot of money, they are probably bummed about losing the original more impactful design.
  15. Why the big diehl? is the diehl building really that historic? To me it is non-descript building that Jim and Tammy Faye paid for... don't see the "historical" nature of this one? Some times old is just old........ and not historic.. "
  16. RDF you asked, so not having to spend my own money, it would have been nice to have two hotels sandwiching the parking deck, one on stonewall as planned and taller, and a smaller, thinner one on Hill down to College, 7-9 stories, so you only saw the parking deck from the westin side on College... don't know if there was room. The stonewall one would be a bigger flagship hotel being closer to the convention center, and the one fronting Hill something like the ones going in at Stonewall Station.... that would have been impressive coming into town from s tryon or college from the south... and not having to see the parking deck from 277.... given you already will see the huge parking decks at Stonewall station and Legacy LH.... don't want to see a big row of 9 floor parking decks.... from the south whether you are on 277 driving by or coming up from s. tryon or college st, which could wind up being more photographed and representative of Charlotte than the conventional shots from the east or west... first impressions of a huge row of parking decks.......uggh, not hip for amazon hq... overall it will still be impressive, especially from the south perspective if Duke does its 600' tower that is looming behind Ally/Tryon with big LED tentacles on top, DEC, Legacy, Museum tower and Stonewall station/Westin/615 and stadium when you think about that their was nothing hardly there 15 years ago.
  17. updated the tired Tryon Place website a bit , barely, only 1 pic of the tower...
  18. I wish Rubio's Fish tacos was here in CLT, as a fast food option, other than going to Ru Ru's and the likes....
  19. downtown HQ tower, uncc technology center (light rail to downtown), concord airport distribution center? or downtown HQ tower, river district technology and lifestyle center (light rail to airport and downtown) and CLT airport distribution? which do you like or propose?
  20. I actually like it better with the final off white, not beige color and dual masts, upper level bar, and some accents and the mid century windows.. Big plus for downtown and Spectrum events, plus better than rebar.. every project doesn't have to be perfect to be a win for Charlotte, otherwise just whining. most southern cities would be hailing this as the best new addition to the skyline...
  21. Aug 7, 10:10am. Good News Report: Charlotte lands financial firm headquarters and 550' tower.. Aug 8, 4:00pm. Bad News Report: Charlotte loses financial firm headquarters and 550' tower. Aug 9, 11am. Good News Report: Charlotte lands retail and commercial tenants at 601 S Tryon, adding Firestone Auto Center and Chick fil a
  22. Been out of the loop for a day or so...anything happening with Tryon Place?
