  1. Crunch Fitness (gym) is expanding and they hinted at moving into a location near the Fan. From a friend I have who works at a local gym, apparently he heard Crunch will be moving into the vacant first floor of the 3600 West Broad Apartment Building. http://richmondbizsense.com/2015/06/28/gym-brand-fills-out-old-grocery-space/
  2. Which Wich will be going into one of the retail spots. http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2015/06/09/sandwich-shop-moving-into-new-vcu-dorm/ Also, I have noticed some activity in the last week at the ICA. Hopefully construction has/will be picking back up. http://ica.vcu.edu/about/construction-camera/
  3. Here is more detail on the apartment building going up on 19th st. "This rendering of Canal Walk 5 shows a 76-unit apartment building going up off 19th Street in Shockoe Bottom. This building will be a prototype for a similar building that Historic Housing plans to build in Scott's Addition." http://www.richmond.com/business/legal/article_18db4dd0-c327-5712-923b-6830a9f24a45.html

  6. Looking through the RVA flickr albums, I found this image and couldn't help but imagine the gap between the Federal Reserve Building and the current Dominion Building being filled in. A high rise between 400-500 feet thats mostly glass and NOT another flat top would look awesome.
  7. Kanawha Plaza renovations approved. Work could start by the end of June. http://www.richmond.com/news/local/city-of-richmond/article_8df5d2b0-c903-55c9-afc0-548585c4bf68.html?mode=story

  9. More development for Scott's Addition: "Spy Rock Real Estate Group plans to demolish the former Symbol Mattress Co. facility at 1814 Highpoint Ave. to make way for a new construction development that would include about 190 apartments and about 55,000 square feet of commercial space." http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2015/05/07/developer-sets-sights-on-another-scotts-addition-eyesore/
  11. I understand that, but only the first 1/2 of the article focused on the downtown area. the second half talked about grocery stores, etc in other parts of the town. was just surprised no mention of the whole foods development.
  12. the article failed to mention the Whole Foods coming downtown. i think if whole foods proves to be successful, you may get more interest from businesses along boulevard.
  13. Anyone know about this conceptual design from Fultz Architects? I would love to see this spot in Shockoe Bottom developed.
  14. looks like a delay in the construction of ICA http://www.richmond.com/news/local/city-of-richmond/article_d7b7a73f-d08a-56f1-a150-a12c57ec275e.html
  15. This is great news of VCU buying the lot that the future Walgreens on Broad and Belvedere was supposed to go. Hopefully a high rise residential with possible first floor retail goes there. http://www.richmond.com/business/local/article_13e0800d-76e5-53f4-a143-6d038b2e793c.html
  16. I see you mentioned the possible hotel in Shockoe near the propose stadium. Well, I found these design's on Odell's website showing what the call "The Pavilion Residential Community" with up to 700 units. One of the images also shows a VCU logo on the top right corner. Makes me wonder if they would scratch the hotel and go for residential only. Also, I wonder if they would develop this separate from the stadium.
  17. It looks like everything got approved which is great news! http://www.richmond.com/news/local/city-of-richmond/article_90c98d35-3e01-53e3-9eac-531927ca2ef0.html
  18. This will compliment Reynolds South nicely. Hopefully adding more high rises to the southside of the river. I definitely agree they need some retail and a grocery store. With a grocery store there would be even more of a pull for residents into that neighborhood. Saw that they are opening an Aldi off Boulevard (http://www.richmond.com/business/local/article_d444d692-bd4d-11e4-8525-a704dec7ae67.html). Too bad they aren't opening one in Manchester.
  19. The designs for this look pretty nice. http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2014/12/02/bon-secours-signs-on-to-short-pump-project/

  22. http://www.styleweekly.com/richmond/market-shift/Content?oid=2168821 Article on the train shed renovations. It has a rendering including parts of a slavery museum and some pretty cool, modern looking solar panels (or maybe street lights?).
  23. that stinks, I would really like to see the area between downtown and VCU start to fill in
  24. I don't know why, but both links went to the same site. One of the links is supposed to be this:http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2014/02/11/downtown-apartment-building-approved/
  25. Anyone know when construction is supposed to start on these apartments? http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2014/02/11/downtown-apartment-building-approved/ I like the rendering on this site (http://www.senseidevelopment.com/under-development/)
