A little sad that a downtown building has to get special "bonus height" permission to build 11 stories.

I love how the 1st new rendering shows a nice grassy square in the foreground which is actually where University Square condos are. At least they got Adelicia and Morris in there (and Kinect and Americana from the reverse view).

The event business hasn't been super busy, but it has been used a fair amount (I live across the street), but something is afoot. The moving continues today. -

Anyone heard anything about Bound'ry? It appears that a lot/all of its contents are making their way onto a moving truck right now. -
At least in this neighborhood (Midtown) the dirt is so expensive that its difficult to build anything "affordable" and by the time you have to charge that kind of rent, people expect a pool/gym/security/someone to sign for packages etc. The A+B, Amazon, and E&Y crowd wouldn't really qualify for any sort of income restricted housing anyway, those are jobs that will pay well above the median around here. The new building just announced for West End Ave will be slightly more affordable than others in the neighborhood, by having smaller unit sizes, but that doesn't really help your single parent with 2 kids scenario -- 600 ft is pretty cozy.

I've been under the impression that AB is mostly (for now) moving existing employees here, while AMZN will probably be more new hires.

The Moxy is going to have some public parking I think. Its something like 150 rooms and 30? rentals and I think about 200 spaces. I doubt if hotel will use a lot of that, given that their target is probably millennials who aren't driving while here. Not sure if that would be more spaces than were available there before. Doubledogs has some spaces behind and I think some of the other new stuff is including parking as well. -
I think you just abandon it when done. They are 15c/minute so I wouldn't think anyone would try to save one while having lunch as long as there are more nearby. I went running near VU around 5pm yesterday and saw at least 9 of these being ridden and several other parked. At least half of those being ridden were on the sidewalk. I think that is what Metro is concerned about as well as the fact that after a ride they are just left on the sidewalk for people to trip over. Their model of having people go out to collect/recharge them every day sounds like a good way to make even less money than being an Uber/Lyft driver. "oxo" electric bicycles have been showing up in our neighborhood recently as well, but I guess people are keeping them off the sidewalk or they haven't received as many complaints as bird has.

DWR was not named that because they competed with Ikea on price. It was named that because at the time a lot of that furniture was only sold to interior designers or other professionals and not directly to the public. -

looking at brick/stonework/windows/massive steel to support the slate roofing/metal work such as guttering these new VU buildings are extremely expensive. they will be there a long time. of course their calculus on these things is different than it would be for the rest of us since they don't pay taxes. -

A little odd not to have a single 1 bed unit. I think the decision to have 4 x 4 bed penthouses is a bit strange too. I think the demographic for an industrial area like that is probably looking for 2 or maybe 3 with more entertaining space. If things slow down this could be the "West End" of 2017 given the price point. http://www.nashvillepost.com/news/2015/11/12/citylights_condo_units_to_start_in_400000s -

They are drilling and blasting at site of Music Square Flats next to the "Octagon" building. 230 apts + retail. -
I live in a highrise in Midtown and the pool deck is very important to the people who live here. I would guess that if it weren't available more of them would be living in the suburbs. If I were a developer I wouldn't even consider building any significant project without one. I do agree that they should get the variance and go to 38. Everyone else around here got theirs.

http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2014/09/dallas-developer-buys-site-for-apartment-complex.html That is Cadence. Skyhouse will have a tower at the corner where SubStop was and a few floors of parking on the corner where the two old houses still stand (at the moment anyway) at corner of 17th and Division. -

I think you are thinking of 19th and Broadway which would surround Hattie B's. Its not as far along as this one from what I can tell. https://www.nashvillepost.com/blogs/postbusiness/2014/9/12/prime_midtown_site_attracts_would_be_developers -

On a related note, the traffic lane closures are a big inconvenience as well. Chet Atkins was closed completely while Artisan on 18th was being built. Yesterday Division was down to 1 lane each way at the Roundabout. I thought that Prima opening would get that section Division back to 4 lanes (they were using 1 for construction staging), but now they are using that lane exclusively for valet parking. In front of Bound'ry at least they only block off parking spaces, not actual traffic lanes.
