  1. This from the deck surrounding the "octogon building". Not much left although I thought they were taking out the old SESAC building as well. Its still there.
  2. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/03/planned-midtown-high-rise-could-grow-larger-with.html
  3. Google is trying to build a company town, but the locals are pretty conflicted about it. The last 3 paragraphs of this article outline the big concern. Google wants to build 5,000 housing units and only 12,000 voted in the last election, so Google could basically take over the city. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/26/technology/google-plans-new-headquarters-and-a-city-fears-being-overrun.html?_r=0
  4. I don't think you can compare 1927 MS River levels to current, since the river is much more contained in its banks now. The same amount of water will register much higher than before all those levees were built.
  5. I can't get a very good angle on the 2nd crane base but as of this am it looked like it was vertical but the pad had not yet been poured. Its just to the left of this. I would have taken a shot of that but its either through the trees or looking right into the sun at this time of day, so this is the hotel end of the project.
  6. The crane on the right is SESAC. I don't think Cadence has one yet. This is taken from the pool deck at The Adelicia.
  7. Pretty sure the Mello Mushroom site is owned by the Lagasse family, which owns the Aertson site. If I recall correctly the Aertson is getting a 50 year ground lease. I don't really understand their decision to leave MM there either.
  8. That video would be more realistic if they added about 300 cars.
  9. http://www.clarksvilleonline.com/2008/09/23/red-light-cameras-in-the-volunteer-state-unsafe-unconstitutional-and-unnecessary/ a huge fraction of the money collected goes out of state. they don't improve safety by any statistically significant amount. cities and companies doing this have been found to be adjusting yellow light times to "increase revenue" which causes more accidents. If safety is the goal then adding 1 second to yellow light times is much more effective than these systems.
  10. Last I heard they were talking to several grocery chains but hadn't nailed anything down yet. I for one will be very disappointed if there isn't one. Certainly the neighborhood should be able to support one, since there are close to 3,000 apts in planning or under construction within easy walking distance and quite a few here already.
  11. Not involved with the project, but I live across the street. The developers have given us a couple briefings. This article lays out the timeline, but just looking down at the site its pretty obvious that they are probably already a couple months further along on the hotel end than the apartments. https://www.nashvillepost.com/news/2014/8/25/we_expect_to_come_out_of_the_ground_in_january "When will full-scale work begin and what is the timeline for construction of Buckingham Midtown? We expect to come out of the ground in January. We're expecting the retail component could be open in fall 2016, with the hotel to open in late 2016. The residential element will open in phases, with the first in fall 2016 and the second in spring 2017."
  12. There will be another one at the apartment end at some point but they are concentrating on the hotel to start with.
