It may be unlikely to happen now, but that door isn’t closed yet. Hundreds of millions down the drain? They’ll give it one more shot.

Legacy Union (former Charlotte Observer redevelopment)
Crucial_Infra replied to Missmylab4's topic in Charlotte
Maybe but the fact that the NationsBank Corporate Center was the 30th tallest building in the world when completed was pretty epic. -

Haha I almost added that to my original comment. It was definitely an awkward time for our fair city. -

If only York County was in North Carolina, we’d already be more populous than a Georgia.- 1,577 replies

Just get it to 600 feet for skyline analytics and I’m satisfied. -

Not sure what is considered “elite” but the 2022 US News rankings of 191 top research medical schools has Duke #3, UNC #24, and Wake #48. https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/research-rankings -

Confession: reading the phrases “17-county Carolina Core region” and “Greensboro-Randolph Megasite” might have made me blush a bit. -

Walter was a bit of a scoundrel by modern standards. Perhaps that’s the reason for the name change? -
Thinking of moving to Charlotte
Crucial_Infra replied to RiverYuppy's topic in Charlotte Coffee House
I would concur on the coolness comments. There are plenty of cool people in Charlotte but people don’t move to Charlotte for its coolness. If you want that, you go to Durham/Chapel Hill or Asheville or yeah Richmond. Atlanta’s not cool either. Charlotte is probably the most “happening” city in the state as far as things to do but there are lots of cooler places to live in North Carolina if you know what I mean. Cool is overrated. -

This will really do a lot to tie the South End and Uptown skylines together. We’re looking at <1000 feet between this development and Legacy Union/Ally. I know a cap is years in the future if ever, but it’s more more imaginable with this imo. -
ACC announced its considering moving its headquarters from Greensboro. This is basically Charlotte’s to lose at this point.

Omg I’m crying at this (NSFW) video that I somehow missed last year. I know you all will recognize exactly where this is. -

Was really hoping Wake and Mecklenburg would pass Fairfax in county population. Fairfax remains the most populous county in the southeast outside of Florida — for now.- 1,577 replies

So where does Charlotte rank in most populous cities now? Is it still 15th? Can’t find a link to the new numbers beyond just the top 10 cities.- 1,577 replies

Also, Tyrell county is the most threatened county by sea level rise in North Carolina. One of the most threatened counties in the entire US actually. It has very bad days ahead in the coming decades unfortunately.- 1,577 replies
