  1. This feels like the last big chance for an iconic tower unless BofA or Wells try to go big again. Duke needs to make this 700+. In today's CLT and especially in that location, 500' is barely noticeable.
  2. Crepuscular rays over uptown this afternoon (via WSOC tower cam)
  3. Great pic! Never thought I'd see a canyon effect on West Trade but there it is.
  4. TFW you've been meticulously grabbing screen shots from the webcam for months for the ultimate timelapse GIF and you miss the grand finale
  5. WSOC tower cam FTW with another epic sunset shot this evening.
  6. Uptown looking strong after sunset via the WSOC livestream
  7. The 31-story version was supposed to be 390' .... At 29 stories, it should be about 365' (111 m) or slightly shorter than Ally Center. And I agree with KJ, it will look huge over there by itself, mostly because it will be in the foreground of many skyline shots. I think FNB made a really good decision with this spot in terms of brand visibility.
  8. ^ Pouring one out in hopes Circa will return to the dirt one day, too.
  9. ^ That parking deck is so tall, it deserves its own pyramid.
  10. ^ North Carolina has multiple economic engines and MSA's upon which to build around. Ultimately, this is the reason why we'll pass GA and why we're currently growing faster. Also, NC's geographic diversity offers huge potential for coastal and mountain population growth. Yes, GA has some coastline and a few mountains but nowhere near what NC offers. And as sad as it may be to some, those coastal and mountain areas are going to continue to boom for years to come. Georgia may have a Savannah to compete with NC's coastal city of Wilmington but there's no Asheville equivalent. In general, NC has much more diversity for potential development imo. Both states will be powerhouses in the next century.
  11. Georgia's boom of late 80s/early 90s isthe difference in population. NC's been neck and neck since then but those years leading up to Olympics put us in a hole that will take another 25-30 years to overcome. Long term, NC will be the bigger state for a variety of reasons.
  12. Not bad. Not bad at all... https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2018/estimates-national-state.html?CID=CBSM+POP18
  13. That deck is a monstrosity. I wonder if it'll be listed among Charlotte's tallest. What's it gonna be 150 feet? EDIT: It actually takes away from the size of DEC and LU. Thing is, it's hard to hide a deck that size in city like Chicago, but in Charlotte, that thing dominates (in a bad way).
  14. Really disappointing. Maybe there'll be an opening for Apple in the future here. Hope so.
  15. Man, thought we might get a 900+ footer. Still, 700 feet will be just fine.
  16. ^From this angle DEC and LU appear to merge to form a giant 1100 footer towering over a puny BOACC.
  17. People like Dale support Trump for a variety of reasons but as he fully admits the most important reason is "owning the libtards". Dale would support literally anybody other than a Democrat. It's a problem.
  18. ^ A total own goal by Georgia. As was HB2 here.
  19. I do wonder how close Raleigh and Atlanta were in the final decision but imo Nashville probably is the better option for just two simple reasons: 1) Better location logistically speaking. 2) Most lively downtown with room to grow. Mostly Nashville wins because of location.
  20. Amazin officially announces NYC and Arlington, VA with new operations center to be located in Nashville
