  1. I feel like the real life alcove looks more like the older rendering which has the better looking crown on the y tower. So maybe the real life version of the y could turn out more like that version with the better crown.
  2. So in 3 or so years after the buildout of ymca, a3, ritz, pinnacle, and lea; Nashville should be at 20 on this list. And if centrum, tishman, and beaman went over 500 then we would be maybe 17. Not too shabby. Especially since it's not taking into consideration all the bajillions of buildings 300ft+ that Nashville has.
  3. How many over 500 ft does Nashville have at the moment? Also, how many over 500 ft are in the plans? Ritz, A3, the two you mentioned...
  4. For the height: 1. The Y 2. A3 3. Tishman Speyer (spelling?) 4. Ritz For the design: 5. Alcove 6. Prime 7. 800 Lea 8. Circle South I'm not sure what Reed district is but jjbB says it connects Mid Town to downtown, so I'm for it: 9. Reed District Not a tower but 10. Storyville Gardens And as a bonus, since all of Giarratana's current projects will be over, I'm still holding out for old Siggy to make a comeback.
  5. I think Ford's Blue Oval City will push those numbers for Memphis and Jackson up and out of the red for sure.
  6. Why are guitars tacky? Anytime anyone mentions making an iconic building in the shape of what put Nashville in the spotlight to begin with, someone says "tacky". I for one think the guitar building in Ft. Lauderdale is super cool. But here, where it makes sense, it's tacky? Not boxy enough for you? Buildings shouldn't be unique? Because I believe London would argue with you. Man, that rubbed me the wrong way. Great idea Ramrod.
  7. Beautiful tower. Anyone visiting would never guess it's a newer building. I'd love to see a couple more towers inspired by this one. Great job Vandy!
  8. Smeags I can teach you Gimp over Zoom if you would like. Super quick super useful.
  9. With all this growth happening and some height on its way, what do you guys think the odds are of Tony bringing the Signature Tower back? I believe it was one of the best looking towers I've ever seen. Similar to a lot in other cities but still different in a way that seemed better.
  10. Yeah, I think that's the problem. You open a thread to see progress on a certain project but then there's pictures and a full page of discussion of old buildings that used to be where the new building is being built. As Smeagol said, there's a thread that fits this kind of information.
  11. I'm not sure where to put this post. With Chase Bank now in Tennessee and growing it's presence. Do you think they might consider building a tower? Also, and this is not going to be a popular post, could we start an old Nashville thread where all the old pictures and discussions could move to? I get on to see progress, not pages of old buildings that no longer exist. Why concern ourselves with things that aren't even in existence? I could get on and post non existent alien buildings all day but why? End of the rant that will no doubt bring Thor's hammer down on me.
  12. I'm dumb when it comes to this but why can't we do like California and put a train in between the eastbound and westside sides of the interstates? I assume the state already owns the land. I-40 and I-24 would cover cities. Seems simple enough, I'm sure it's not for reason but it seems that way.
  13. I love Pittsburgh's skyline. Cool buildings. Especially the castle-ly looking one. Great height and great destiny. I go there often because I have friends there. I wouldn't want to move there for various reasons but visiting, especially during the warmer months, it's different. You feel like you're in the empty coal country area but you're in this large city. It's got character.
  14. I'm sorry. You're correct. I was mistaken with QP gas stations. You're smart, I'm dumb. You're good looking, I'm not so attractive.
  15. Not the first location. They've been in the Tri-Cities for a long time. My wife and I used to do audits on them. So, I know for a fact they've been there a long time. We also did audits on Mapco and their sub-brands, such as Delta. We did Fastop, HotSpot, and QuickStop. QT isn't that special. The smallest of those chains, QuickStop, only located in the Tri-Cities area, was the cleanest and kept their food properly stored. The next time you're in the Smokies area, do I would warn against eating the prepared food from Fastops. They keep the food on the cooler where the drinks are stored and not in freezers like QuickStop. The same is true for over half the HotSpots too. The only a few Fastops keep food in a freezer like the the big one off of exit 8 on I-81 in Morristown. Some Mapco stores in Georgia put extra stock in the bathrooms. I've seen since things, man. Welcome to gas stations.
  16. I feel the same as nashcago. Sure it's a double and they're tall and that's exciting but they are just boxes. Nothing interesting at the top. Just a box top. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited about the project though. It's a fantastic addition but a non-box would be very much welcomed.
  17. It doesn't look like Rutherford has passed Hamilton quite yet, but close. I feel like Murfreesboro should get a highrise or two this decade. The county already has a larger population than Fayette county, ky; where Lexington is and it has a couple of decent towers. It's larger than what Knox county and Hamilton were back when they got towers. It's time.
