  1. Would that be Rosie Craig? If so, I agree. She was one of the Vista pioneers, spurring the renovation of the DuPre Building. Hope this project succeeds!
  2. Neat project! Glad to see some activity on the Charleston board. It is one of my favorite cities.
  3. The renderings of the stadium look pretty decent. I hope the entire site is built out rapidly.

I know some will question how safe a location this will be for the students, so I'm sure there will be lots of security amenities advertised. Perhaps, once we can finally say goodbye to that dreadful Greyhond Bus Station, the area might have a cultural transformation, too. Dum Spiro Spero.

Rode by the new dorms today at lunch. They are really coming along, providing some increased density around the CLA and Business School. If anyone can snap and post a few photos, I'd appreciate it.
  7. Had heard the new Greek houses (not the existing ones across Blossom St) will be near the Palmetto Compress Warehouse, which is also being developed for housing/retail, I believe. I'm unaware of the details of Huger St improvements.
  8. I'm wondering whether there will be traffic signals installed at the intersections around the new dorms going up by the Colonial Life Arena, Coliseum, Moore School area? Currently there are stop signs on Lincoln, but cross traffic does not stop. I can foresee this becoming increasingly dangerous as the new structures bring in even more crowds of people (on foot, in cars, etc).
  9. Sorry about that. I'm sure you're right. Looking forward to continued development in the area spurred by the Hub.
  10. According to a recent article in The State, the building directly across from Mast General Store has been sold to a developer. The usual talk of mixed use hopes is mentioned including office space, apartments, and a pub.
  11. Wow! You've done some good work. Keep at it. On a slightly related note, I recently saw something about the high speed rail proposed for Florida (it was supposed to have been the nation's best) but the Governor there apparently refused the federal funding, and the project was shelved.

If anyone can get down to the Coliseum area and snap some shots of the dormitory/apartment progress, that would be great. I'd assume they are making some progress with the skeleton of it. Once it gets built, and the other Innovista research building is constructed, there is going to be some good density.
  13. Got home last night from a great trip to Nashville. The Comfort Inn on Demonbreun was very well located. On the night of our arrival, Tin Roof had a big USC gathering. I spent a lot of time walking around Music Row, the Gulch, and the obligatory Broadway area. You have a tremendous city, that has so much to offer, without the pretense of similar sized towns whose names I will not mention. It keeps getting better folks. Keep up the good work. I'm already looking forward to my next trip. Oh, and I greatly appreciate all the good suggestions I was given before we left.
  14. Hey, thanks for all the great suggestions. I'll take a look into these, and try to formulate some plan of attack. We'll be arriving Friday afternoon, after a pretty long drive, so we will probably not wander too far from the hotel the first night. I'm glad to hear there is so much within walking distance of the room. It also sounds like the green circulator bus might allow us to ditch the car a bit, which is obviously a good thing when savoring all the local craft beer. I'm definitely needing to visit Jackalope, if only because of its cool name! Y'all have a lot to be proud of, and the traffic on this forum is a testament to that. Many thanks for your hospitality.
  15. Visitor here from the Columbia, SC forum. I'll be in Nashville this weekend for South Carolina's game with Vandy, and was hoping for some suggestions on "must try" bars and restaurants. I've been to your fair city twice, and it is really a jewel! I've been looking forward to my return for months. We are staying on Demonbreun, and this will be our first time outside the main tourist area around Broadway. I am really wanting to explore the Gulch, and hope that our hotel will be well situated to doing that on foot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Seems like there is already something down by the railroad tracks, on the opposite side of Assembly from California Dreaming (maybe an old brick warehouse near Whaley)..but that might be something entirely different. Perhaps they will add on to whatever is presently there.
  17. Great pic..all of them really!
  18. If y'all haven't been by to see the progress being made on the Keenan Building, you should. I drove by yesterday, and there is a truly good lookin' building under all that mess. They are peeling back the layers to reveal a much better looking structure. Its a definite improvement.
