  1. Yes, I believe you are describing the Charlotte Knights' Stadium..BB&T Field I believe it is called. I've not been, and don't know if ours is being modeled after that one.
  2. I'm going to try to get over to take some pictures of the progress of Spirit Telecom Park soon. Has anyone driven close enough to get a look? If you drive next to the property on Calhoun, you can catch a glimpse.
  3. Wonder which "hotelier" we're talking about? Hopefully not the Red Roof Inn.
  4. Tommorow is a great day, for multiple reasons, with economic being one of them!
  5. The Ag First project is underway, and I am glad to hear "Tunnelvision" will remain. However, I am curious if the city still plans to relocate Blue Sky's "Busted Plug" to Finlay Park. I know the idea was met with resistance from the artist, who took offense. Has any agreement/timetable been established for its relocation? I believe the hospital had/has plans to build a parking garage on that spot.
  6. 41 stores and restaurants have signed letters of intent to locate in Columbia Common. Bob Hughes, please tell me just five of them. I am ready for some news. I'm a taxpayer, thus, a shareholder in this project, right?
  7. Yes, I am happy to see it actually happening, and am happy to see new downtown housing which is not geared exclusively to students. Maybe one day I'll relocate to one of these condos/apartments and enjoy walking to all the cool things I love about Columbia!
  8. On another site they have the design info on Kline City Center, we've been waiting on. In my opinion it lacks a lot of the bang we were hoping for, and what seemed to have been captured in earlier renderings. These appear to be reflective of a myriad other developments I've seen from Nashville to Charlotte. Regardless, it will add density, both structurally, and in people. It will apparently be built in phases with the corner parcel reserved for a hotel (the last parcel developed). So, has anyone seen any plans for the apartments/condos that are supposed to be built across Gervais from Kline (near the McD's)?
  9. Agreed. It looks like all the other towns mentioned for consideration are also distancing themselves.
  10. We have new businesses set to open soon on Main, Lady, and Gervais Streets. Grill Marks and Wired Goat will be opening by next month, a juice bar on Lady, and a California based pizza joint next to WOLO studios on Main (this will be its first East Coast location, with plans to expand to GA and NC at some point).
  11. I believe Aloft did officially break ground yesterday or the day before. I'm not sure when the 12 story student housing building will get going, but hopefully soon. I went to Paul McCartney last night, and that whole area around the CLA is going to be a fantastic gathering spot once work is completed on the square.
  12. I tell you, the WestEdge project looks great! That whole area is going to be so nice when it is built out.

Anyone going to see Paul McCartney tommorow night at the CLA? I'm taking my 9 year old daughter, and we're both stoked about it!
  14. Starbucks Evening will open July 20, where the Sherlock Holmes Pub used to be. Apparently there are only 40 of them in the country, and only 3 in the Southeast, so far. It will essentially be a full-service restaurant which will serve beer and wine. I think that will be a nice addition to Main, even though I miss the Sherlock Holmes. They had Tennent's on tap, and bowls of popcorn.
  15. A parking lot? Really? Tear down a building to make way for a parking lot? This almost seems like a joke. I hope this never happens.
  16. Those are the ones I was referring to earlier. They are impressive, aren't they? They came out a few years ago, and then unfortunately, the deal tanked. I believe it may have coincided with the economic recession. Anyway..yeah..they are impressive as hell, and I'm really curious to know if the new guys will take those old renderings, and run with them..or something similar.
  17. Thanks. I had seen that, but was curious to know if any more recent renderings showing architectural detail had been released. A few years back, there were some very detailed renderings, that were computer graphic generated, but those were done by someone else (not the current developers), so I don't know if they will try to emulate them.
  18. Homes Urban LLC of Greenville announced last summer its plans to develop the old Kline Steel site at Gervais and Huger. This is a mammoth project, and another I've been waiting to see break ground. Apparently the plans had been for construction to begin during the first quarter of 2015, but nothing is going on that I can see. Anyone have any insight, and has anyone seen the most recent renderings of what is all supposed to look like? One project that has surprised me by the speed with which is moving, is the student housing at the old Greyhound site. I really hope this will be a quality development, but in reality, anything built there would be a huge improvement to what had been there all my life. The new law school is also speeding along.
  19. I hope not. I suspect the architectural design folks may have had to ask they send their idea back to the drawing board. However, I don't think that will hurt the deal. Everyone wants to see it happen. It just needs to conform to some degree with the family of buildings which will surround it.
  20. I remember reading the Aloft Hotel would break ground before the end of April, and here we are in June. Has anyone heard anymore on this project? This will be another great addition to the Vista, adding more density, and pedestrian activity to its sidewalks.
  21. I hope so. I am one of those folks getting "antsy", as the mayor puts it.
