That proposed casino in Petersburg definitely does not kill any casino aspirations locally. It's first phase is a 200 room hotel, event center, and gaming area. It would be in an entirely different market. It may take Cordish and or Smith out of any local project, but not necessarily so.

It had nothing to do with the size of the arena. They sold about 60% of the available seats. This was a stunt to both save face, and get free publicity for the remainder of the tour. They obviously need all the publicity they can gin-up.

The Half Moon Terminal will only be available for overflow cruises from Baltimore until May. After that it will be undergoing expansion to prepare for year round operations which begin in 2025.

Another big issue with Chrysler hall is the small loading dock. Some of the bigger productions travel with 18 tractor trailers of gear, and the loading dock can handle only 1 truck at a time. This adds an added level of difficulty and cost. They need a much larger delivery dock.

The city has little to do with this particular delay. It is a VDOT project, and the contractors are supposedly delayed by poor soil conditions and overhead wiring conflicts.

IIRC the length of the old people mover caused it to be removed because it added excessive mechanical stress and lengthy and expensive repairs.

As for the parking deck in the foreground it was clarified on this segment from WTKR. That deck will be dedicated to rental car parking. The rental car companies will be relocated to the adjacent building to free up prime space in the terminal. If I'm not mistaken the casino referendum was for only it's current location. I could be wrong, but if so the whole thing would have to go to a vote again, and I'm not sure what it's prospects would be.

Here is a pic. of prep work underway for this project taken today at 16th. and Baltic. I met a couple of friends at the Beyond Van Gogh exhibition, which was very good. We had lunch afterward at Barrel 17, my Hawaiian burger was excellent. The weather was beautiful today and it felt like a mini-vacation for me.
