  1. Removing existing seating and replacing it entirely would provide some key amenities for a more modern experience: More comfortable open-air seating (sans that metal roof) and the opportunity to add multiple luxury suites for a potentially big revenue stream. This would be a big win for the overall fan experience and probably a key component to taking the track to the next level.
  2. I've been noticing more and more of these random concrete spills around town. Eventually somebody will drive over one of these piles of concrete and discover that it hadn't dried yet.
  3. It seems like the Hard Rock brand would be spot-on for Nashville and has been for years. The question would be location -- downtown? Maybe River North?
  4. Something about this explanation seems odd to me. Assuming that COVID is mostly under control and life is tourism is on the rebound by the end of 2021, this project -- if groundbreaking was tomorrow -- would still be at least a year from opening anyway. Is it more likely that the developer doesn't have financing secured?
  5. Wow, hadn't heard that news until now. That's a really nice fit for the fairgrounds track and hopefully leads to even bigger things. Here's their site: https://www.srxracing.com/
  6. Yep, I've been banging this drum for a while, too. There a few neighborhoods in Nashville that seem prime locations for an urban-style Target. I'm a little surprised it hasn't already happened.
  7. Happy to see today that the former Loft storefront has been filled relatively quickly. With all the new buildings coming together in the Gulch offering an abundance of retail space, it's good to see most of the current spots filling up.
  8. I had heard from a couple of people that the owners were looking to close those bars and focus on their Louisville ventures. This is very welcome news.
  9. I was in there probably 4-5 times pre-COVID -- they did an amazing job of recreating the era with photos and decor from the period of the sit-ins, so it really made you feel somewhat like you were in that moment. The food was OK, but the atmosphere is what made the experience. I sure hope another owner will try again once restaurants can function normally again. I loved taking out-of-town visitors there
  10. The Nashville area is an ideal market for NASCAR, although that particular location is awful. I understand the need to have a speedway away from residential, but all around it is miles of nothing. As traffic on I-840 grows, let's hope that retail/restaurant/hotel build-up will follow.
  11. That empty side of the brick AT&T building would be a good place for a massive mural. With the AT&T connection and potential AT&T funding, maybe a mural could highlight communication milestones in Nashville, or something river-related since that street is so historic for its river commerce. A meaningful mural could be something beautiful created from a tragic event.
  12. I feel pretty optimistic about something being done with the track in the next couple of years considering the major players involved and the potential upside. It would be great to get renovations done sooner rather than later so the stadium and track might be ready around the same time.
  13. Before the rebuilding phase begins, I hope serious consideration is given to how to really maximize 2nd Avenue. If it is actually configured to be closed off to through traffic and become pedestrian-friendly, maybe leave slots for food trucks on select nights? Maybe a farmers market on the weekends? Maybe find a way to really set it apart the way 5th Ave (the Avenue of the Arts) is set off with overhead lighting or some other perk.
  14. NASCAR appears to really like the Nashville market, so it doesn't seem impossible for Nashville to host two NASCAR cup events every year. Several tracks hold two NASCAR cup events every year already, including some in markets that are certainly less attractive than Nashville. We're fortunate here that both our tracks have people in charge who can get things done with NASCAR.
  15. I'm guessing that the original Nov. 1, 2021, opening date is out of the question now? I drive by this location about once a week -- I rarely see anybody on-site, and progress seems to be painfully slow.
  16. I've always wondered what those black poles are. I seem to recall seeing those 5G poles combined with street lighting or traffic lights at some locations around Nashville.
  17. Surely the mayor and/or his staff had to know this transportation plan would be DOA with the city council. Why even waste the time, effort, and money on 348 pages of nothingness?
  18. Aside from creating a really nice design, they've done a great job of hiding the parking area. It took me a while to realize the building includes more than 300 parking spaces.
  19. Just noticed over the weekend that the Loft clothing store in the Gulch appears to have closed. Any idea if something else is going in that spot?
  20. I think you're right -- the first image made it look like the front lot was tiny, but now I see that it's probably no different than it is now. That's disappointing, especially considering how that entire stretch of Church Street could look so much different and walkable in 5-10 years with the dairy property, the Reed property, and others in flux.
  21. Very cool project, especially the way it fronts the street and presumably puts parking in the back -- although I was today-years-old when I learned that the liquor store I've been to probably 50 times is called "Corkdorks" and not "Midtown." Oops.
