  1. I would like to see the City crack 250,000 by 2030. 300,000 would be even better
  2. http://www.richmond.com/business/local/article_c65fa5b8-8650-5729-aeb8-8a76fbddefa8.html Nice article on Lakeside and its potential redevelopment.
  3. I like this idea. That area of Broad does feel a bit cut off from the southern part of Shockoe/CBD.
  4. I agree that Boulevard is not a good idea. Broad Street Station is a superb beaux-arts building and would make an excellent entry point for Richmond. Given the space restrictions and logistical issues with MSS, perhaps MSS would be better as a regional transit hub (Pulse, light rail, commuter rail) while Broad Street Station handles intercity passenger rail. The Science Museum could be relocated to Boulevard, thereby contributing to that neighborhood's growing entertainment options.
  5. More on Reynolds Crossing http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/10/04/reynolds-crossing-readies-final-parcels/
  6. Interesting idea from Barcelona: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/02/nyregion/what-new-york-can-learn-from-barcelonas-superblocks.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=second-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 Perhaps this could work in the Fan/Carytown. Curious as to the board's thoughts
  7. http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/experience/food-and-wine/2016/09/12/richmond-virginia-trademark-tastes/90261534/ Article on Richmond's rising restaurant scene
  8. http://www.richmond.com/business/local/article_e6fcc37f-831b-5e04-9e27-0ce5e07de827.html More news on the proposed twin apartment buildings in Scott's Addition
  9. http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/09/01/stone-brewing-bistro-plans-inch-forward-hotel-possible/ More about Stone Brewing's plans for the East End. A waterfront hotel could be a reality.
  10. Hardywood garnering some national (and international) attention. http://www.wsj.com/articles/american-craft-beers-hop-across-the-atlantic-to-meet-growing-british-demand-1472231485
  11. That would be great. I would love Richmond to blow past Memphis, Jacksonville, Louisville, etc. Richmond's assets are at least a tier above it's present population status.
  12. http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/08/25/brookland-park-blvd-i-didnt-know-this-was-here/#map Article about the revitalization of another park of town -- Brookland Park Boulevard
  13. Looks like 7 West is progressing http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/08/16/demo-begins-for-new-manchester-townhomes/
  14. More good news for Manchester http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/08/10/plans-for-former-american-tobacco-buick-sites-in-the-works/
  15. Another brewery opening up in RVA and from Charlottesville no less. http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/08/09/virginia-brewery-to-expand-into-downtown-richmond/
  16. Update on Roseneath in Scott's Addition http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/08/04/new-look-unveiled-for-proposed-scotts-addition-towers/
  17. A dedicated bike path needs to be built on River Road from Three Chopt to its terminus with Route 6. Cars and bicycles commingling on River is dangerous. Not sure how it would be accomplished, but a solution is needed.
  18. I do not think that annexation at the expense of Henrico or Chesterfield is the answer. The Commonwealth ought to abolish the independent city/county division (Dillon's Rule) that was implemented during Reconstruction. Only Virginia employs this system. Once abolished, it would be possible to live in the City of Richmond and Henrico (or Chesterfield) County simultaneously. It would allow for annexation while preserving the integrity of the counties. This is a highly unlikely scenario, but I think it is a necessary step towards greater regional cooperation, and not just for RVA. Failing this, Richmond should work to improve city life and cooperate with the surrounding counties as much as possible. Many cities are co-terminus with the underlying county. Charlotte is one such place.
  19. Memphis was a Republic Air, then Northwest Hub. When Delta acquired NWA, it downgraded Memphis.
  20. I would like to see a signature building on the vacant lot on the SE corner of 10th and Canal. That parcel is highly visible from I-95, especially coming from the south. It would make for a bold statement.
  21. http://richmondbizsense.com/2016/07/25/tourism-pushes-hotel-numbers-to-new-heights/ A nice article about the multiyear upswing in RVA tourism.
  22. http://www.richmond.com/business/local/article_312ad926-fdbb-5d3f-8303-e61f76b7bea0.html Not as exciting as Dominion or Shiplock, but I am glad that this project on Grove is advancing. That area needs some fresh development.
  23. Well said. I think this will anchor the east end of Tobacco Row nicely while bringing in some new property owners.
  24. Nice to see someone deviating from the "flat top" roofs ubiquitous in Richmond. Hope this gets built
  25. I love the density -- just need some more height. We have one beautiful city!
