  1. I think definitely related to CM leaving... He referenced your remark about flying down to protest its removal. West would be nice. It could spring a bit more action in the "gold district".
  2. http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php/topic/45016-southend-midrise-projects/page-149 Starting at comment #2966 from Southend midrise thread about a month ago... Possibly related to the rumors?
  3. Wasnt it just the building at the wedge intersection of Tryon and Camden, maybe a month ago?
  4. These guys don't hurt as a little reminder either. http://www.positivelynaperville.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/corsswalk-sign.jpg
  5. CMBX, just wanted to point out... Food Truck Friday is mostly fueled by young adults who live in Southend and others using the light rail. Moving it to CPCC or NCMF and targeting only drivers might work, but certainly wouldn't be ideal, knowing how successful it already is. I'm not exactly sure I understand why Camden couldn't be shut down for 4-5 hrs a week between Park and Tremont. Other than street parking, all traffic to buildings on Camden is on the backside and the blocks are pretty tight for any detour. Driving up Camden during food truck Friday now is already sketchy because of how many people spill into the street. Tryon and South are not far out of the way. Traffic could still be allowed to pass through on West Blvd.
  6. It still always packed whenever I go. I don't usually hang out there but go in and out at least once a week.
  7. You should have a once-every-three-month chicken binge and hit both haha. I eat fried chicken once or twice a month when I have a group coming back from a night out. We usually end up at that gas station since Price's is always closed by then, but it's just as good to me. Spicy or regular fried chicken, fried shrimp, corn dogs, wedges... We've yet to find anything to complain about. Hell of a place for a cheat meal.
  8. The Charlotte Talks podcast from yesterday goes into great detail about development in P-M and NoDa, and more specifically about the Jackalope Jacks site. It's a really good listen for those who are interested.
  9. Just wanted to share this stand-in line from the good folk at Union County Weekly that just made it onto the twitterverse. Thought it was pretty funny. I wouldn't be surprised if someone there got upset about this either.
  10. No I think they're building that one from the top down.
  11. I'd expect that wall to be conducive to lemonade stands and scout fundraisers though.
  12. I print screened this last night. Props to Kenneth Picklesimer on NFL.com haha
  13. I love when fans think that they know players better than the staff that watches their every move for a year, minimum. Just because Mel Kiper doesn't talk about the guy doesn't mean he's not a great pick. People complained when we picked up Luke because we had LBs and people said Steve Smith was a waste of a pick anywhere before round 6. Hell, Aaron Rodgers was passed by 23 teams and selected by GB when Farve still had several years left and glaring defensive issues. I was hoping we'd grab Perriman when he dropped to us, but I won't pretend my judgement isn't based off of what analyst on TV are saying.
  14. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2015/04/30/former-chiquita-ceo-lands-a-new-job-in-cincinnati.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Maybe Brian Kocher will bring Castellini fruits to Charlotte to fill that vacant space Chaquita is leaving haha
  15. I think someone mentioned that it was last year's Bears game when the map originally updated... Just in case someone wants to find their car from above or something, which is the first thing I looked for haha
  16. Someone should post that picture to widen77 haha
  17. http://www.charlottefive.com/what-in-the-world-is-that-thing-at-the-charlotte-knights-stadium/ Well I didn't know anything about the Knight's new pet. I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person.
  18. FWIW my best friend is from Philly and now lives in South End. He says he'd never move back now, despite all the family and friends he still has there. It reminds me of all the kids I grew up with around here who's northern families would talk about this area like a well-kept secret when bringing visitors down.
  19. I would fear faux historic buildings beside real older buildings much more than uber-modern ones. This little strip will be a cool section to take visitors.
  20. Seems like the safety switches are working well, so I guess that's better than the alternative problem... Hopefully they can keep the ride working consistently in the near future. No one likes standing in line for hours, only to be told the ride isn't working.
  21. Just took a look on google earth and looks like this spot is no thinner, and possibly wider, than the portions that parallel Camden.
  22. Several sources are saying Steve Martin is getting moved to the radio side of Hornets broadcasting. This really bums me out.
  23. It would definitely be cool if they could work out a 700+ room convention hotel at this location... And, seeing this picture, a casino across Caldwell. But that's another story.
