  1. I think it's a 787, which is what BA will run on their Nashville route to begin with. Of note, BA upgraded Austin to a 747 recently after 3 years of success on that route.
  2. Anything going on in the A terminal in terms of construction prep? Maybe someone on their way through could snap some pics one of these days.
  3. WOW is notorious for poor on-time performance and to the point raised above connection options are very limited from Iceland. Norwegian seems to be focused on other markets ahead of BNA, including Chicago and DC. A Delta flight to Amsterdam would be the jam. Hoping that rumor turns out to be true.
  4. @Lexy is this related to the rumors you mentioned about a possible Delta flight to Amsterdam in the airport thread?
  5. Man that would be great. For those of us into the points game, DL/AF flights are a lot easier to book cheaply than BA.
  6. Looks like M, T, W, F, Sa - flight 222. Can't wait to take it.
  7. Speaking of spewing, it looks like this could be why the BA announcement was leaked yesterday .... http://www.newschannel5.com/news/luggage-contaminated-by-sewage-water-at-bna
  8. Yes, the 787 and the soon-to-come A321neoLR could both potentially serve BNA-LHR/LGW, as could a 767-400ER.
  9. I agree that we will likely see a Europe nonstop within a couple of years, probably at first on a low cost carrier like Norwegian, airberlin, Wow air, or Condor. Not so sure if the US Big 3 would want to break with their hub strategies and do a one-off Europe nonstop from Nashville, but it would be awesome if one did. True, BNA has bigger yearly passenger numbers than a lot of peer cities with TATL nonstops, but I understand that some of those cities have bigger concentrations of Fortune 500 companies with significant European operations, as well as higher numbers of Europe-bound travelers than we do. For reference, see this thread. Also, an airport leader has hinted at an announcement related to BNA Vision in September. Some have speculated that this would be the right timing to announce London service in the spring. But it could just be that Alan Jackson is opening a tequila/boot store on the C Concourse or something.
  10. Maybe if the Coffee House was called something like "Ring of Eternal Fire" or "Gladiator Cage Match", people would be more likely to use it. When I hear Coffee House I think of a quiet place to read books, or, if you're Dutch, to smoke dope.
  11. I would encourage everyone affected to appeal their reappraisal if it seems unfair. I've successfully appealed a reassessment and reappraisal on my home twice now and I'm not an attorney or real estate professional. I had to go to the state level both times. It's really no big deal: it boils down to sitting in a conference room with an administrative judge and presenting your arguments in plain English. A rep from the assessor's office will be there too, and in my experience it was very collegial. When you first appeal, Metro will pretty much deny you as a matter of course. They'll mostly want to talk about property comps. But don't be discouraged. PM me if you want to talk more.
  12. This was a pretrial ruling, so there are miles to go. Also, this suit seems to be a dispute about rent for the existing use for the property, not about kicking PSC out. Sure, PSC could decide to walk if they lose, but that's unlikely.
  13. "You are hereby sentenced to 10 to 15 years in a jukebox without possibility of parole."
  14. It's a solid addition. Always wanted to go to Banff; now it's a lot easier to get within striking distance.
  15. We should seriously look at a bachelorette party tax as a funding source for transit ...
  16. One potential way they could mitigate the flood risk is by doing some major earth-moving and then obtaining a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA), which is a certification from FEMA that says yes, the land is technically in the floodplain, but because of the mitigation work that was done, it's no longer considered the floodplain for flood insurance and floodplain mapping purposes. Many Nashvillians learned about LOMAs the hard way when their homes flooded in 2010, and they went digging to find out why their homes weren't considered in the floodplain, even though they were within 1/4 mile of a river in some cases.
  17. Dude now plans to tear it down for surface parking. http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2016/12/15/parking-lot-eyed-site-historic-midtown-building/95467978/
  18. Sad loss for Inglewood - the beautiful Eastminster Presbyterian church was gutted by fire over the weekend. http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/2016/12/12/firefighters-respond-fire-eastminster-presbyterian-church/95322750/
  19. That development has been a major disappointment since it was built. I can't recall the year but it has been within the past 10 or so. It's still baffling that it was developed as a 1-story strip retail center.
  20. The 1-story building formerly home to E&S used car lot at 2607 12th Ave S is now vacant and for lease. The owners posted something on Nextdoor about taking it back to how it looked in the '40s, pictured. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/19761494/2607-12th-Ave-South-Nashville-TN/
  21. Poor use of taxpayer money. The world has enough Ken Burns docs, which have progressively examined less and less interesting topics over the years. And besides, how much can it possibly cost to slowly pan across a bunch of old photos with voiceovers?
