  1. Oh, I'm so sorry vdogg!! I just wanted to post an aspirational HINT to the powers that be.... Let's cut to the chase, shall we? The Norfolk waterfront and skyline should have been graced with 1 or 2 gleaming, slender high rise towers out of Cordish by now. But nooo, the City just wouldn't hear of it... as far back as 2014! Wouldn't even discuss it with Cordish! Sought to poison pill the deal before it ever got off the ground! WOW. Wonder if City leaders are having any second thoughts now...both about Cordish's tower(s) proposal AND ...wait for it...their Casino proposal?!! HAHA! The latter doesn't seem so far-fetched and undesirable in 2024, now does it? Hmm.
  2. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jefffromm/2023/10/23/innovation-fuels-urban-renewal-cordish-exec-talks-trends/?sh=74f29d342d2d Cordish got it right in KC. They have a formula. It's not all that shocking, actually, but Forbes says it's pioneering.

I know. LOC: the site of a former bank bldg, outparcel in a parking lot of a strip mall fronting VB BLVD, just West of Walmart and across the street.

  5. No, that RT one is still a RT. Now, the old RT at the intx of PA Rd. and S. Indy is a Dirty Buffalo. Oh, and the old RT on Great Neck is a Citrus. LOL.

  7. Anybody know if ZIM has completed its $30M renovation and expansion at Pembroke's Corporation Landing? They purchased the building for $12M and had planned to relocate there by Spring 2024. https://thalhimer.com/marketwatch/our-blog/corporate-center-v-sells-for-12mm-in-virginia-beach-to-zim/ https://www.ttnews.com/articles/zim-relocates-virginia-beach
  8. KPMG at A/H Tower. This was an important "get." New to the market and a major player, nationally. Man, A/H loves that 98% occupancy at A/H Tower. Keep squeezing them in there and shuffling the deck and there will be no Block 2 Tower in sight. When is their option up again? OH YES, 30 April 2024. EMAIL VB City Council! https://armadahoffler.com/recent-news/big-four-accounting-firm-inks-deal-at-armada-hoffler-tower-in-virginia-beach/
  9. My understanding was that this was was true when tax dollars were used to pay for 1/2 of the $40M purchase price; however, after VB reimbursed the govt. their $20M, VB took posession of the ROW, free and clear.
  10. https://www.wtkr.com/news/in-the-community/norfolk/4-major-projects-could-break-ground-at-norfolk-international-airport-in-2024-ceo A $650-$700 MILLION TRANSFORMATION. 2 PEOPLE MOVERS CONFIRMED, AND UP TO 4 PEOPLE MOVERS IN TOTO. IMPRESSIVE. MULTIPLE SKY BRIDGES.
  11. Supposedly, the trail will eventually connect with a walking trail in Norfolk. But as far as LRT, I agree with you. Unfortunately, Beach leaders seem to lack the will to push LRT or even BRT given the results of the last non-binding referendum vote. Such short=sidedness never gets one anywhere!
  12. Good to know my reportage was correct, even if it did draw a few confused emojis lmfao. As far as the PAMUNKEY go, and Richmond UP wack jobs, for that matter, time to take out the TRASH. I'd do that for free...and enjoy it.
  13. Yes, I read it all last night. Extremely entertaining. I mean, honestly, I needed a laugh, and they certainly delivered. One of their members is, well, hanging on mentally by a thread. Or seemingly so. If I were them I would call in a wellness check on that dude. "Little" being the operating word.
  14. Right. I don't disagree that cash-strapped Norfolk should jump on that gravy train. Some of us actually hold nuanced views of various subjects of geopolitical interest.
  15. My young friend, for the record, and I'm sure this is what you meant to say, 100 percent of the animosity and rivalry is on their end.
  16. I hope you're not that dumb. Why don't you tell me where I'm factually wrong. You cannot, but you can try.
  17. What happened to that ice age again? Look we can argue causation, and I don't disagree with you there are signs of increased sea levels, but to actually commit to trillions of dollars of spending and suffer the attendant slowed economic growth and reduced standard of living in hopes of reducing temperature rise by half a degree Celsius or the sea level by 6 in. over the next 50 years or more is ...well ..sort of crazy. Man is not that powerful. Most of this is cyclical climate.. And who is going to reign in China and India? Not the Europeans and not us because supposedly they get a pass because they're still developing. Ha! What a joke! This is a massive transfer of wealth and you know it. It's a money grab. This is big business. Corruption abounds. But I agree as far as Norfolk making money off this climate game. Why not Norfolk? If not us, it will be somebody else. So it's time for Norfolk to capitalize on this phenomenon. To monetize it. Just as academics have been doing for years. And Al Gore, of course. Nearly a billionaire now isn't he.
  18. The mere act of pointing out that THEY are obsessed with US in so much as they constantly make comparisons between ORF's and RIC's numbers is not tantamount to a desire on my part to compare the two, nor is it an attempt to share in their negativity. LOL. Far from it. We are who we are. We accept that. We are comfortable in our own skin. We'll gladly play the underdog. And WE are not the ones with a chip on our shoulder.
  19. We shall see. Rather, our progeny will see. Because we'll be dead...and blissfully unaware.
  20. We did best them last year, yes.
  21. Can't wait to see all the celebrations going on in the Richmond forum when their numbers come in. They know they have beat us hahaha ...it makes their year.
  22. Nearly simultaneous to this corridor study announcement, former Governor Bob McDonnell and regional commercial real estate power broker Gerald Divaris personally briefed members of a subcommittee to the RAC (Resort Advisory Committee) on their proposal to build a rather sizeable hotel on 17th...with 450 keys. RAC has opposed Jenkins' proposal all along, fyi. These concurrent events are no mere coincidence. It would appear that McDonnell is trying to build a "convention level" hotel, relatively far from the Convention Center, on the sand at 17th. Well, Councilman Chris Taylor has cried foul! Council should not fall for this, and the vote on Capstone should be set for the very near future. Vote it up or down. NOW. No additional studies are needed. Council members should not use these never-ending studies as a crutch or cover for future votes on big projects (if the vote ever even takes place in this case!). What you are witnessing is NOT leadership, folks. This is political gamesmanship. Pure and simple.
  23. I have been in touch with my contacts at City Hall. The general feeling on Norfolk CC as of last Friday is that the Pamunkey have not delivered on promises made. Several members are unwilling to compromise much/accept this significantly watered down proposal.
