  1. Personally, I think that globe looks idiotic.
  2. Isn't this the likely prospect based upon well-founded rumors?
  3. I was hoping that there was truth to the rumors that a bank planned a new tower on the site next to Gantt.
  4. Thanks, Rick. It's a decent design. Hopefully, the facade will turn out well.
  5. Does anyone know if they're keeping the design shown in the Observer? I assume that they are.
  6. I agree. It would be nice to have a great plaza with fountains too. This could host outdoor seating for restaurants at the base of any new tower.
  7. Fortunately, 300 South Tryon and the hotel are quite nice. Hopefully, more nice towers are in the pipeline.
  8. Hopefully, the design will not be another box. But for the Kimpton, Charlotte does not have a good track record for residential and hotel towers. As the city matures, it's time to start building more iconic designs for residential and hotel structures.
  9. But we're adults having a dialogue. 300 is a nice building, but that Atl tower blows it out of the water. That's my opinion. Others may differ. That's natural in any discussion.
  10. I like 300 South Tryon too. I said that it's like a short, fat box when compared to the Atlanta tower.
  11. Respectfully, the Atlanta building blows 300 South Tryon out of the water. Compared to that, 300 is a short, fat box with a curve. Charlotte needs to build residential towers like the Atlanta one some day.
  12. Thanks, Rick. I'd imagine that this still will be less than $300m altogether. Compare that to Kushner's $7.5b residential at 666 Fifth which was announced last week or the $4b price tags of 50 HY and the Spiral. Charlotte's massive cost advantage is a great selling tool.
  13. I am amazed at how cheap it is to build in Charlotte
  14. I agree. With very limited exceptions (e.g., 300 S. Tryon)'s Charlotte architecture after the financial crisis is terrible.
  15. I'd like to see a Neoclassical building like Nashville and Charleston have built for their concert halls. Charlotte sorely needs old looking structures.
  16. Hopefully, it will have a decent design and won't be another lame box.
