  1. Alright, my attempt to bring this forum for Huntsville back to life. I won't be able to hold a flame to my hometown, Nashville's, forum and all their great moderators and contributors, but I have been inspired. Blue Origins to win ULA Vulcan rocket contract over Aerojet-Rocketdyne. To build rocket manufacturing city in Research Park. http://www.waff.com/2018/09/27/blue-origin-wins-ula-engine-contract-will-build-facility-huntsville/ Hopefully to come...updates regarding: 1) City Centre at Big Spring 2) MidCity Huntsville 3) Town Madison ...and more!
  2. From what I can see, I am guessing it spells out the quote? Pure assumptions here: 01010101 01001101 = "um" --> Human? 01001001 01010011 = "is" --> is? 00100000 01001001 = " I" --> "space" I? 01001110 00100000 = "n " --> n "space"? 01001110 01000011 = "nc" --> Essence? etc.
  3. Yup, hardly any sidewalks, some road don't even have shoulders, and lots of suburbany. It's not all bad. There are a few good things going on here. Thinking about posting some stuff in the Huntsville thread. Looks like it has been dead for years.
  4. It is a little disturbing about the hats, but at the same time it shows me there is still a little of "old" Nashville in this "unrecognizable" place! Now if it were all black tie, I'd be a little mournful!
  5. If you all think Nashville is automobile-centric, just hold Huntsville's beer!
  6. Aw, man, look what you guys have done now! Two women to launch Huntsville’s first pedal pub https://whnt.com/2018/09/13/two-women-to-launch-huntsvilles-first-pedal-pub/
  7. What? Like, Rocket City Trash Pandas? (New Madison, AL minor league baseball team name).
  8. I've seen a big push from NashvilleSC and MLS2Nashville's FB pages. However, like many of you, I am wondering why they didn't start this earlier!
  9. Ah, yes, now my memory is in full gear on that saga. Agreed, wish there was more positive PR for both soccer and the stadium, including all fairground improvement.
  10. I see. Thanks, Paul. There is this from MLS 2 Nashville: Nashville soccer fans, if you want Major League Soccer (MLS) in Nashville you need to come to Metro Council tonight and email your Council member today. It's that simple. https://www.votervoice.net/mobile/NASHSC/Campaigns/60194/Respond
  11. If this falls through, would converting Greer Stadium be an option? I know at one point a development was proposed there, but I thought that fell through too? So maybe Greer is cursed as well... Maybe give the upgraded Vanderbilt/Nashville SC stadium another go? Probably not an option, but it would be nice to strike a deal with the Titans and fill that stadium up like ATL does their games. Of course having a new billion dollar venue probably helps. Just hope they have a good Plan B...
  12. LOL. That is good to hear. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer!
  13. Yeah, that will be pretty small, but I also would take it over nothing. The one here near downtown Huntsville is 33,500 sqft.
  14. But how many of those lots did have something significant before they were surface parking?
  15. Agreed. I think it is definitely cultural, more so American but lesser in larger cities. I understand the reasons why. I just think it would be beneficial to begin to consider walkability/sustainability in a more overall context. I hope to see a shift, culturally, to at least think these things through more. Huntsville is just as bad, if not worse, with this concept. Even in more "progressive" areas (NJ, FL, KC, MSP) I've lived in/been to recently seem to half-azz this in areas.
  16. Why even have a stops like this? This is pointless and absurd. How is this helpful? Why would you want to try to walk anywhere and/or ride the bus? What's wrong with building infrastructure to encourage walking, biking, and other transit? Gasp, it goes against the all mighty automobile!
  17. https://usa.streetsblog.org/2018/08/13/sorry-bus-stops-round-1-matchup-nashville-vs-houston/ Pathetic. Need to encourage more pedestrian and bike friendly structure and safety. Would like to see heavy investment in these areas.
  18. Would it be crazy to email support to council members from somewhere, say, like, Huntsville, AL?
