  1. He probably went to Super Walmart after that too.....
  2. I dont mind the office tower either. What is dissapointing is the "band" in this one. It doesn't seem to be as flashy and prominent as it was in the original rendering. The cutouts helped, maybe even the color. This darker gray looks dull. And the smaller building to the right detracts from it. I do love the glass and what looks like metalic trim accross the top of it.
  3. wow, great stuff. Lets hope BofA lets them do their thing and not try to make changes. Ken: "Oh, I love the beautiful glass structure you guys have designed for us, but I have to ask. Can we make the glass beige?"
  4. Is that really the time frame they are shooting for for excavation? 100ft in just 3 months would be an amazing accomplishment in itself let alone the rest of the project. What type of soil conditions do you guys have over there? Our 100ft deep hole is taking forever, but that is partly because of all the blasting that had to be done to get through rock. Not comparing projects of course but they are similar situations. Best of luck to Nashville, you have a fan in Charlotte
  5. I love seeing before and after pics, thanks for the updates UL.
  6. Thanks for the writeup, I didn't even know about this place. What are the prices like?
  7. Some updates on Alpha Mill. I didn't realize how big this project was until I visited yesterday. 9-23-06 These next couple are from one of the loft condos. Here's the view, with uptown, 277, and the future Northeast line on the bottom right. And their not allowed to call it a Mill without a smokestack
  8. Here are some updates from 9-23-06 Current: And, hopefully after: Its still too early to tell where the blank walls are going to be at street level. We all know that from the parking garage entrance, up Trade to College is going to be a wall. (It is the same in all renderings, drawings and the model). The question is below the garage entrance (to either side of the steps going up to the main level), and along College st. I can live with the wall along Trade from the corner to the garage entrance, but if the two retail spots on Trade by the steps dont go in I will be very dissapointed. Even NYC has sections of blank walls, even on the signature streets, but if the entire block from the LRT tracks to College st. has no "people" places, I'm gonna be pissed. Its really hard to tell where those steps are going yet. There is space for a small shop to the right of where I think they will be. And we will have to wait for 210 to get further along to see the retail space at the bottom of it.
  9. Wow, it just never ends.... At first glance it looks amazing. What corner are we looking at?
  10. No worries MC, I drove by not too long ago and saw at least 30 guys out, just from my quick trip past on 4th. Maybe you drove by too early. Still dont think they are going to make that fall 06 deadline though...
  11. Actually, I think the Met is going to be on one of the streetcar spurs that will run up Kenilworth and Scott. But even if it was never going to be on a transit line, should this space be left as a dead mall and parking lot? It at least will add density and the big boxes stop everyone from running out to the burbs to shop at these stores. Certainly better then what is there now. Your link is to a Dallas transit thread (a mistake i guess) but im guessing BV is Ballantyne Village? And the reason people "jump on you" is because of the constant negativity you seem to have for everything Charlotte. There is nothing wrong with being a critic, but when you never have anything positive to say and constantly look for something negative to say it will get under peoples skin. edit: im an idiot, Birkdale Village, not Ballantyne Village...
  12. That IS why, we already concluded that a page back, not sure what Metro thinks has changed since then. The parking garage will be above grade along trade, thats why there is a wall keeping the retail portion level instead of "stepping down" for each retail space.
  13. I'm not seeing it? This is a model made for the residential portion. Not an intircate model by the retail portion that is going to put every sign and ouside umbrella on there. The doors are there, why would they put anything else on the model. If it turns out there is retail where it is on the rendering will you change your mind? If only they gave us a floor plan at this early stage of construction.
  14. But it has the doors, they are not going to put drawings on a model. here is a similar angle on the model as the redering above, notice the model has all the doors that the rendering does.
  15. The only problem with that in this project is that there is a parking garage underneath. From college going down trade the parking garage actually goes above grade. That is why they could not put the stores in "steps" going up trade St. Where the parking garage ends, is where the retail portion steps down to the plaza at Trade st level, with the staircase going to the inner section of the development. From the renderings, it appears there are retail spaces to either side of those steps, so it wont be only walls.
  16. There's a great pullout spread in todays Observer sports section of the whitewater center. Its worth getting.
  17. Alot of dirt is being moved at the Dilworth Walk site. Are permits already a go for this? 8-19-06
  18. Met Midtown site 8-10-06 Expo site, garage going up 8-10-06
  19. awsome, the opening got delayed but at least we're getting the first competition in this summer.
