  1. Iv'e had family come down from NY/NJ on the train and they said it is a pleasent experience. If your not in a hurry and just want to relax then 13 hours is not so bad, read a book, have a drink, etc. When I drive back to Jersey I take 77 to 81 all the way up to 78 and take that in to NJ. Its a much more pleasent ride through the VA mountains, and with 2 short stops only takes 9.5hrs. Although after living down here for 5 years I refuse to drive up there anymore unless I'm carpooling with people. One bad trip where accidents turned 9.5 into 12 hours ruined it for me. I would rather sit at the airport/plane and be able to read or whatever. Driving is just agrivating. I would consider the train, but it is a full day of travel each way. Not worth it unless I was going up there for 2 weeks.
  2. Small jets are actually more expensive to operate than large ones per ASM (available seat mile). All those new mini jets use as much or more fuel, yet they carry fewer passengers. As a side note, US is also rumored to be in merger talks with Northwest. No anti trust concerns there, as their markets don't overlap.
  3. The next section I believe is going to be from Morehead to Baxter. Not sure when they will do the section from Woodlawn to Park Rd. I live down off Park and Seneca so I'm hoping for this section too. They may plan that section with the rebuilding of the Stratford apts since that development will be right on the greenway. Unfortunetly we haven't heard anything else about that project.
  4. This great project hasn't had a post in almost 7 months so here are some pics of the section from Morehead to Woodlawn. I took a bike ride on Sunday to uptown and used the greenway to get there. Its a great ride, although if you want to go full out and pedal hard its not the best place to do that. There were alot of people out, many of which had dogs on leashes so you have to slow down. I could just see a dog darting across the path and closelining me, lol. Anyway, these were taken on the trip back as the sun was getting low so forgive the fuzziness. Also thats why there are less people. The path starts behind the ABC store, but there are some steps to Morehead as well. Looking south at the hospital bridge. There are plenty of benches built into the retaining walls along this section. Passing the hospital. The path crosses the creek a couple times with these small bridges. A look back at the Levine childrens hospital construction South toward the East Blvd bridge. After you pass under East the path runs into Freedom park along the main driveway. Then the path crosses a bridge and runs on the east side of the creek. There are a couple bridges to take you to the different sections of Freedom Park. Here's the lake, is this the one from Shallow Hal? At Princeton the greenway becomes a sidwalk through Myers Park for about a 1/4mile on Jameston Dr. The path becomes a greenway again at Westfield and Irby Dr. Here looking south. Bridge just south of Hillside Ave. And it ends for the time being at Brandywine, behind Park Rd shoping center
  5. I dont really take many pics of Epicentre because it has a web cam. But if your tired of that angle as much as I am, here ya go. 7-29-06

    Courtside

I've looked at doing that, but not enough occupants yet to look good. Although I haven't tried in the last month and a half. The little arcitectural illumination it has would have a huge dark section through the middle.
  7. I'm sure there are a bunch of safety measures, but I'd be scared of getting sucked toward those water pumps...
  8. I thought someone on here said 601ft or something like that?

^^^Thank you, but unfortunetly we will probably have 4 more pages of analyzing what it means that they are not making sales public....
  10. I'd have to agree with Metro here, although will have to hold out until we see some more details. (always the optomist). Right now all we see are green glass with no interior and a green door. If some of these doors were for restaurants and there was outdoor/sidewalk seating it would change things dramatically. Add signage to that and even outdoor displays and things will be much different. As long as the college and Trade st doors are not "back" doors we'll be ok. I'll also add that wouldn't it be great if they did above and below grade establishments. Kinda like NYC where you have an entrance at street level and stairs leading 1 floor down to a great restaurant, live music venue, club, bar, etc. Double the # of entrances at the street, but establishments on 2 floors. The village in NYC has alot of this. Will never happen here, but I can dream. Edit: Well, D beat me to the post. Look how much outdoor seating, lighting, and signage does to the streetscape.
  11. And check out all the possiblities they have with the roof of the center building. Its huge, concerts anyone? Pool and common area looks great too.
  12. ^^^But I still like giving previews... Actually it opens to those on their "mailing list" tomorrow and the public on friday. They did say that they will be using the green color, someone else will have to elaborate on that, I was busy taking these. Crown from the front: Crown from the back: Model looks great
  13. Its so good to see your posts with happy faces and enthusiasm, we miss the old A2, that Wachovia thread is just what you needed.....
  14. Possibly an excuse to delay the opening because they are behind on construction. If I get time this week I'll see if I can make up an excuse to visit the site again. Since its now June, I'm curious to see how close to completion they are. I still think Charlie Hipp would have been fine as a temp road. Hawfield is another story.
  15. The buildings along the greenway are not finished on the model yet because they haven't finalized the details on how it will look. But it is part of the first phase. The condo tower (which doesn't have any details yet either) is the second phase.
  16. lol, yeah, it was pretty cool. It was suppose to be an invite only party, but they opened it to the public, although never made an announcement that I know of. Alot of political figures were socializing through the crowd. Probably over 350 people showed up. (out of 400 invites, not bad) No real new info, but they had a great model of the entire complex in the sales center. The rest was out in the tent where they had free booze and food. Mr. Pappas, the Mayor and Parks Helms all gave a little speech but my camera was not too good with the light inside the tent so they did not come out. Anyway, here are some pics of the model, a pic of the very cool ice sculpture, and a skyline view from the top of the big dirt mound on site. Mr. Pappas explaining what a genious he is.... notice all the open park space they added. The buildings along the greenway are not finished on the model yet because they haven't finalized the details on how it will look. But it is part of the first phase. The condo tower (which doesn't have any details yet either) is the second phase.
  17. Well the old mall is now completely down, and they are spreading the dirt mounds out over the site where the ruble is already cleared. Not sure if it has been said yet, but the groundbreaking is next Wednesday the 17th.
  18. Looks like the parking deck is now going vertical on the trade st. side.

    The Vue

everyone everywhere in Charlotte has access to digital, this is something different apparently.
  20. Good idea, that thread was becoming enormous... Does anyone understand yet how the tower crane is going to fit next to the building? Is that a corner of the building that wont protrude out? And I'm guessing they will just use the bottom of the crane as part of the foundation eventually.
  21. Congrats Nashville, looks great. Are the balconies what I see down the center of each side?

    The Vue

But we have also never had a building like the Vue. Isn't it 400+ units? If we have anywhere near 50% sold then I'm not worried, it just takes time. Remember how much of this same talk we had about the OCC coming down and getting things started for Epicenter, everyone was worried it wouldn't happen.
  23. Midtown Sundries accross the street is now gone too
  24. Damn, you guys have some great projects going on in Denver. I cant believe there's not more Denver posters here. Mr. Infill, you need to hit the streets and get the UP word out. With that much going on there's plenty to discuss.
