  1. I believe I did hear something about council approving it a coupleof weeks back. They were still trying to secure federal stimulus funds for a shovel ready project to fund it as well as the new white water radting on the chattahochee downtown

This is very true its unique that you would say that I found it really intersting last night while looking on cnn moneys webiste of Georgias 19 publicly traded companies all are headquartered in Metro Atlanta except 4 of those 3 are have their hq in Columbus and 1 in Thomasville (Flowers Industries) its unique to see that I guess that does mean these 2cities do lead the way
  3. Corporate Ridge is located in East Columbus betweenWoodruff Farm Road and Schultuga rd. If you are trying to find it on a map just look up Mutec drive. There are quiet a few large companies out there including Aflac, Tsys, Kodak, Kysor Warren, Werhauser and Cessena to name a few.
  4. The former Panasonic building in corporate ridge will be the home to the new manufacter center. The building has been vacant for nearly 2 years and has a total of 340,000 sq. ft. of space. The company has begun the hiring process already hoping to employ up to 200 people in Columbus by the end of the year and as many as 875 within the next 5 years. This is such great news for for Georgia and especially Columbus as more high tech jobs continue to be created in this market.

As of now the plans for the Phenixian are still a go the statments you are reffering to came from pc mayor Coulter he only made a guess which was ignorant on his part he never spoke with gilley properties. J.W. Brannen Pc's riverfront econmic development director told the east alabama citizen the project is still a go and RGP has devoted millions already to securing the land needed to build the high rise condo. Plus their company is still doing fairly well they are building a multimillion dollar complex near Dothan
  6. The landings on Airport Thruway is getting a new sports bar called pickel and barrel at the site of the former backyard burgers rest. Their website shows they currently have a location in milledgeville. No date on a opening yet but the hiring process has begun already.
  7. Marco's Pizza contiues there expansions through the Columbus area as the store is now opening another Columbus Location on University Ave. in the Mission Square shopping center this is their 4th store in the area in less than a year.
  8. Finally A Little Good News for the Columbus Area, The State of Georgia unemployment rate remained the same in the month of March as Febuary at 9.2%. Meanwhile in Columbus that number is a little bit brighter. Columbus unemployment rate is down to 8.4% from 8.7% in Febuary. Thats the first time in over a year that Columbus' unemployment numbers have declined. It is still higher than lasts Marchs umployment number for the city which were at 5.3%. With Stocks begining to rise again and unemployment stablizing as well as the number of foreclosures on homes declining lets hope we have seen the worst of this recession and the brighter days are ahead.

  10. Baskin robins is opening another columbus location in the landings on airport thruway they opened a store on veterans parkway in downtown a couple of months ago
  11. Triangle rent a car is opening a new columbus office on Veterans parkway at the intersection of 39th street the building was formally occupied by thrifty rent a car which went out of business a month ago
  12. Another CVS Pharmacy has been built in is preparing to open up this month in Columbus. It is in front of the Grove Park Luxury development at the intersection of Whitesville Road & Double Churches road. It has a very unique look to it a grey stone exterior as opposed to bricks like many of there stores the Look is certainly unique
  13. O so true I wish they would open it back up as a nightclub it would certainly be a great addition to that area with all the nice casual dining resturants in that area it would be great if there was something there to do after midnight in that area.

  22. The nightlife of Columbus is already lame and getting worse. Whenever the city does catch some good nightspots some of our not so uppy residents tend to mess them up for everyone which results in the city trying to limit those types of venues in the city.

  24. Some good news amid all the bad thats going on in the past few months a new upscale pizza resturant called Marcos Pizza has been expanding rapidly in the Columbus Market. They opened their first resturant on Whitesville Road a couple of months ago and since have locations on Warm Springs Road in Columbus and the Publix Shopping Center in Phenix City. I keep hearing about one opening somewhere in CPC
  25. Columbus Loses Kia Supplier Columbus has lost Kia supplier DongNam Tech and the estimated 350 jobs it was supposed to bring to the city, the Columbus Development Authority said Wednesday. South Korea-based DonNam Tech Co. Ltd. has been purchased by another firm, NVH Korea, the authority said in a release from the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce. K.B. Lee, president and CEO of DongNam Tech announced that the new owner has halted plans to open an automotive supply plant in Columbus, the authority said.
