  1. Work is beginning to bring water under Hwy 67 to the hotel property at the corner of Hwy 67 and Bypass. Grading and site work is beginning at El Sombrero location on Buckhead.
  2. I just looked at where you're saying this would be located. First, location wise, it would not make alot of sense to me. Second, the all the property out there is zoned residential. Which means if there is one coming they will have to go before the County for a rezoning. I browsed the County's list of items over the past year and there isn't any requests from rezoning to commercial in that area. So I'm definitely thinking rumor. I suppose it's possible that we could see a rezoning request in the next few months or something, but I wouldn't put money on it.
  3. The City had the "front of yard" parking hearing last month. Most of the chairs in the Council Chambers were full. The council heard from the residents. There were many different views. It was very apparent that the Council had a complicated issue in front of them. No decision was made at the meeting. The Council and staff will decide what steps to take next if they desire to persue an ordinance. Yesterday, Mar 6, City Council heard the request from annexation and rezoning from the property on Cawana Road with the borrow pit. After hearing from both sides and some discussion the Council decided to APPROVE the request with conditions: denisty limited to 2.4 units per net developable acre or 45 homes whichever is less, minimum heated floor area of 1,750 square feet, all brick or comparable exterior, and two car garages. These are the same restrictions that were placed on the recent annexation and rezoning that occured recently just to the north of this property and Bradford Place on Cawana Road. They also approved a preliminary plat for property off Packinghouse Road, just south of Mossy Oak Cove, between Packinghouse and the Bypass. The plat divides the property into 104 single family residential lots. Approved the second reading of an ordinance officially annexing 80+ acres on the south side of Hwy 301 North, across from Allen Circle. This will be commercial on the front of the property along the hwy and R-10 single family residential on the rest of the property.
  4. Construction continues at Chops and Hugo's. Bruster's Ice Cream's building is up. Lots of things going on in the County. The county zoning department posts .pdf files of the cases. Shows request, staff reports, and maps. Lots of requests for property along Burkhalter and Langston Chapel. Also a large subdivision north of the airport. I dont remember if the commissioners approved these or have even heard them yet.
  5. Thanks, I understand being excited. Charleston Row must be in the County. Maxwell Engineering is working on it, it is mentioned on their NEW website. Go check it out. maxred.com
  6. I'm originally from Gastonia. I know lots of Gastonians that travel to Northlake Mall. The drive there isnt that bad, especially if you know your way through the rural roads, rather than taking I-85 E to I-77 N.
  7. i noticed that the other day when i was at lowes. I haven't heard anything, my first guess would be a expanded freezer or something.
  8. I agree the downtown of Gastonia is in great need of redevelopment and improvment. The westgate mall is named EASTRIDGE MALL
  9. I had heard that Mary Jo's was looking at relocating directly across Cox Road into the property where Ruby Tuesdays, Chuck E Cheese, and Olive Garden are located. That option makes alot of sense to me considering it would put them very near the old location. Plus they could build a new building and be the primary store and have direct access, rather than going into the mall. Not to mention if the property owner allowed it, they could build the new building and have spaces on either side for smaller stores and get the rental income for using the space. But, like I said I dont know if the land owner would go for that. One of my friends family lives close to South Point HS off, I'm not sure the name of the road but it connects South Point Road to where all those new homes were built with the brick wall surrounding them....anyway...their property backs up to the property where that new commercial development off South Point is going to go. Just amazing the growth, becuase I can remember playing out in those woods and feeling like we were far away from everything.
  10. Thats great! Thanks for the news. So do you know what is being built beside Steak & Shake? I knew hh greg and ashley were being constructed but i couldnt remember the names. I'm surprised starbucks is not locating in the franklin square area.
  11. I don't know. That is the kind of stuff I want to find out about.
  12. I was getting gas at the Walmart gas station. There was this "Comming Soon" module attached to the pump which was described as being a way to tune your auto at the pump by adding various fuel additives...I found it strange.
  13. I'm not looking for spots where Gastonia comes up in other topics. The purpose of this topic was to be a place to talk about projects and rumors of projects in the Gastonia area. For example...the redevelopment of Mcadenville, or the new stores being constructed on Franklin Blvd across from Goodwill, Greenways, new roads, etc etc... now post away!
  14. Anybody have any updates in terms of the topic. I know recently, alot of commercial development has occurred near Franklin Blvd and Cox Road. Are there any upcoming projects, stores, residential developments and the like?
  15. No, there is not any plan in for that property as of yet. The pile of signs are road construction signs! Therefore, that construction trailer is a DOT trailer.
  16. Also there isn't much of a winter here, so ice cream doesn't sounds like a bad idea to me.
  17. Was out and about today..... Alot of dirt being moved at the Bruster's Ice Cream construction site, so that project has begun. Also the animal hospital on Brampton is coming along nicely, sheet rock was being delivered. Barberitos' sign was being installed. And work continues at the future restaurant on West Main Street. The name evades me at the moment.
