  1. Great photos Mo! It's like I'm actually there!
  2. I'm hopefully going to move closer to a bus line here in Seattle very soon. On Google Maps, they have a "Directions" calculator for transit, and it even factors in time walking to bus stops. I'll easily be walking 20 extra minutes per day to use the bus. Little things that you don't even think about (the good and the bad) can sometimes make a big difference in your health!
  3. Wow, great video! I really miss Charlotte! I like the music choice as well.
  4. Wow, that really does look great...the backdrop almost even looks like a painting!
  5. Wow, thanks for the pics! Not bad looking at all! The crown kind of looks like it's floating there right now...I'm sure that will change once more residents move in and light up their units.
  6. I am photo starved...can someone snap some pics of the street level for me?
  7. ^ Wow, those are crazy shots. How did you do that?
  8. These are all such great shots! Thanks for sharing! The fog photos are so eerie reminds me of 28 Days Later with the deserted city.
  9. I always think the Charlotte Air Quality webcam has the best view of uptown. This was today's photo at dusk.
  10. ^ Nice video! Here's another from above the BofA CC:
  11. ^ Yeah I just saw that on CNN - we're in front of everyone in the tabs section! Wow I feel special haha.
  12. The MLS season kicks off on Thursday evening with the brand new Philadelphia Union traveling to Seattle to take on the Sounders. Seattle has been a major success story for MLS, with many sellouts in one of the largest MLS stadiums to date. I'd love to see that same success in Charlotte. I think for it to work, however, it can't be done by the same people who own the Charlotte Eagles. They have their own agenda, and while I love the Eagles and have attended many of their games and soccer camps, I think their agenda would be a wall in the success of an MLS team, and I doubt that MLS would even allow a religion-based team to take the field. For a new Charlotte team, I was thinking about referencing our city's heritage. I think it would be cool to have a team based on our royal roots in Queen Charlotte, and I think having that European connection could excite the soccer community. I think FC Charlotte of Mecklenburg could be a good name, or Charlotte Barons FC for that matter. We could also reference the Revolution, maybe bringing the Charlotte Hornets name back? What do you guys think?
  13. What exactly does Siemens do now in Charlotte?
  14. A renovated and upfitted Memorial Stadium would be ideal and a perfect fit for an MLS team. I'm somewhat skeptical about our ability to support one since our fanbase seems to be a bit flaky. The southeast certainly needs a team soon, although the cities rumored to be on top of the MLS wish list are St. Louis, Montreal, a second NYC team, and Miami.
  15. Here are some pics when I was home for Christmas break. The first few are from the Bobcats game vs. the Bulls, and the second set are from the UNC vs. Pitt bowl game. Enjoy!
  16. Big win tonight against the Spurs! Go Cats! I hope we can keep it up!
  17. Where exactly is Whiskey Warehouse located? I'm not too familiar with the Plaza Midwood area.
  18. Thought this was a pretty nice shot of uptown at dusk this evening from the air quality webcam. I wish there there was a zoom function on the webcam, or the picture was larger with higher quality, but it's still a nice view. Enjoy:
  19. Which projects are these exactly? The second pic almost looks like a rendering...maybe because there are no power lines visible.
  20. That's true, to people who already know about Detroit, but if you didn't know anything about Detroit and you were just passing through the airport, I think the awesomeness of the design would make you more interested in perhaps making a stop. Bottom line is we need significant upgrades to attract people at first glance. First impressions certainly matter, and we don't want to be written off just because our airport is stuck in the 80s.
  21. You can go ahead and call the small affordable condos without (dedicated) parking Catalyst, and it failed. The vast majority of potential buyers want dedicated parking uptown, no matter the price point. It's hard to travel around Charlotte outside of Uptown and SouthEnd without a car. I wish it could work, but I don't think it will for another 25 years, once we get streetcars and the transit corridors are built out.
  22. I would advocate the Charlotte Knights. Why throw out a good name?
  23. If we got an MLS team in Charlotte, Memorial Stadium would definitely be the best choice (obviously it would need an extensive makeover). I think Charlotte could probably support an MLS team, but would be in the bottom half of league attendance. MLS is in expansion mode with the addition of Seattle this year, Philadelphia next year, and Portland and Vancouver in 2011. That will bring the total number of teams to 18. While I think MLS could be successful in Charlotte, there are other untapped markets out there that would be more to MLS's liking. Off the top of my head, San Diego, Phoenix, San Antonio (or Austin), a major Florida market (most likely Orlando, since MLS has failed in Miami and TB already), St. Louis, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Montreal, to name a few. In conclusion, Reese has no idea what he's doing. Stop Reese, just stop.
  24. I think it will be a little bit shorter, but I don't know the exact height. It may seem like it's the same height from several vantage points when it's in the foreground though.
  25. Great shots krazeeboi! The Vue really stands out in the second one...I wasn't expecting it to look so tall and slender. Nice surprise. When did you take these photos?
