  1. I hope the Ritz keeps it's architectural integrity. This is definitely awesome though! I love the white shiny glass design. Looks very modern, like many new buildings in NY.
  2. The original rendering is definitely more impressive. The office tower also looks like a concrete block of lameness, similar to the Duke Energy building. They also need to extend the metal loop around the building like they originally had it. Disappointing.
  3. That would definitely be a great location. It would help extend the skyline northward and broaden it immensely.
  4. Here's an update from the 19th: with the Ritz site in the foreground:
  5. This area is at one of the worst planned intersections in the city. The fields around the intersection are now all being mowed over for cookie-cutter cheap sided houses typical of sprawlsville. The infrastructure most certainly can not support this development.
  6. The name was originally The Arlington then they changed it to Crescent South then they changed it back to The Arlington. Name changing is so much fun.
  7. True, the establishment is no longer in existence, but the colorful facade with graffiti art is still there, right? I think that adds alot of character and flavor to the area.
  8. Personally, I am quite satisfied with this project. I think 5 stories is fine, but it shouldn't go any over 5 stories in NoDa. A few 5 floor buildings will not destroy the character of the neighborhood if they are integrated well with the street, as this building is. I love how they are keeping the old facade - that is a definite must. If I had to rate it, I'd give this project a 9 out of 10.
  9. Ok maybe I did a bad job of explaining what I learned. I did mention that you couldn't get them back, that's what I meant to begin with and what you typed.
  10. ^ Yeah, I'm learning about sunk costs in Econ 101. It would definitely make no sense stopping now when they're already done so much work. They can't get that money back, so their only choice is to keep constructing.
  11. ElricSeven this reminds me: I was wondering if you could post some pics of your unit and the interior of courtside. I think that would be cool! Thanks.
  12. Yeah, I am fairly positve both Fox Grill and Lucky Strike are still in the project. I did hear the theater pulled out though.
  13. I was at the mall last week and my buddy asked the dude at Caryle & Co. how expensive was their most valauble piece of jewelry and the guy said 60k. I wonder what it is at Tiffany's.
  14. That place is awesome! I would love to live there, the only problem is affordability.
  15. That's one nice looking building!
  16. Actually, recently I have found there to be better deals coming out of Charlotte than places like Raleigh and Greensboro. I think they are improving drastically.
  17. True words A2, we need to be less cocky and more realistic. So, are you saying that lets say I have lots of stock in Duke Energy, should I take it out now? Or should I just ride the wave of the stock market and pray it comes back up in 10 years time?
  18. Yeah me too! Maybe next week I can go and take some, but right now I'm in exams.
  19. I like the top of it alot - it's will be a nice change in the skyline, instead of being purely a box.
  20. Looks nice. I hope the hotel portion isn't EFIS though.
  21. Well, since the movie theater won't be at the Epicentre, I hope someone else comes along and puts one in. Wouldn't be sweet to have a multilevel high rise theater? Like 2 theaters on each level, rising maybe 6 stories into the sky? With stadium seating, that would be awesome.
