Okay guys, help me out here...I was looking at the General Assembly Building construction webcam a few minutes ago and saw a crane in the background that appears to be behind City Hall (reference photo below). What is this for?  Seems too early for a tower crane to go up for the new VCU Adult Outpatient Tower, right?  What else could be over there in that area?

Probably clears the way for Squirrels and VCU to announce the new stadium plans - now that they have the approval pretty much for the land to be cleared.  But sounds like new stadium would be 2022 opening.

Given how many of the lots nearby fronting Broad St are being proposed for 5 or so story buildings, and Sauer Center includes a parking garage in it's eventual site plan, I'm sure the parking lot will go away....just ...not in the next 5 or so years, or until the next phases of Sauer Center are completed.

All over the DC area, there are high density residential developments with grocery on the ground floor.  One of those many projects has a Whole Foods on the ground floor.  It's along H St NW.

Believe it or not, that Whole Foods does most of its business from the lunchtime business crowd, from people picking up groceries to take home, from poor schmucks who are buying dinner to eat at their desks, and the local GW students who live in the surrounding blocks.

A guy I grew up with and went to high school  with is doing this project. He has his own development company called CW Performance Group. His dad is the owner of saxon shoes. I know the family very well from going to school with them and playing soccer with his son Corey who is doing this development and owns CW Performance Group.

I know the Shockoe bottom ballpark ship has sailed, but it is interesting that Odell has a rendering of the mixed use project in the north side of Broad that was updated to replace the hotel portion with a building with the VCU logo.

Man, I wish this project would have come to fruition - that ballpark looks awesome and the surrounding buildings look sweet!  I can’t believe that instead of this, we have nothing but an eyesore of parking lots and trashy empty blocks.  Frustrating.

Not sure what to make of the VCU building in that rendering except that maybe, at one time, VCU had considered occupying one of the proposed buildings.  I would love for this idea to be resurrected - man, what an opportunity missed!
