My sister is involved with a movie production company out in LA and gets to preview and read a lot about movies before they come out. She told me Crossover was giong to be a diaster even before it was filmed because of its poor storyline.

BTW, what's really interesting is they have this electronic database in the movie industry where you can look up sites to film a movie. Many of them are active places like office buildings, homes, parks, factories, etc. She showed me one time and I saw MCS on there. I do not remember what it cost to rent the building, but I'll have to ask her to look it up. I'd be saddened if it was a lot money that Matty probably isn't using toward the rehabilitation of the station.

DDOT ridership has actually been on the rise, though, since 2004 or 2005, I believe. I'll see if I can find the source where I remember seeing this. SMART's ridreship is actually down quite a bit, though.

Perhaps rising but still low compared to when they bought the articulated busses decades ago.

That basketball movie that was filmed in the MCS months ago finally came out. My friend went to see the movie, Crossover, the other day. It ended up being an incredible waste of time. His advice: wait until you can rent it so that you can skip through everything that isn't the MCS.

A few scenes were filmed on the campus of University of Detroit Mercy too. I will probably rent it just to check out our campus. I wish they would have filmed some in Calihan Hall, our basketball arena.

For a while now I have been trying to make plans with another UPer to be given a tour of Detroit but we never end up going. Is there anyone else here willing to give me a tour? Going by myself I would surely get lost.

I'd be more than happy to take a Saturday and buzz around town with you and anyone else, Zach. I will be out of town this weekend (Sept 22-23) but the following Saturdays should be open. My 18th floor lounge is waiting for some eager picture takers. :)

I was wondering about how some of the buildings downtown are doing. The Ford Building isn't talked about a lot. How about the First National Building? One Woodward Avenue?

I've always assumed no news is good news for these.

I'm searching for some new office space downtown (moving out of an overpriced one that I will not mention because I like the building as many others here do). It's really been a good way to learn about a few of the buildings that not a whole lot is known about. I do know that the First National Building has about the most affordable prices for quality office space, location, amenities and all things considered.

Many of Detroit's buildings have websites you can check out to get information. Unfortunately, the David Stott doesn't seem to be one of them:

1. Penobscot Building: http://www.penobscotbuilding.com/

2. First National Building: http://www.penobscotbuilding.com/

3. Buhl Building: http://www.thebuhl.com/index.htm

4. Cadillac Tower: http://www.ctwr.com/

5. Comerica Tower: http://www.500woodwardave.com/

6. Ford Building: http://www.fordbuilding.com/

7. Guardian Building: http://www.guardianbuilding.com/

8. 150 West Jefferson: http://www.150westjefferson.com/

9. Dime Building: http://www.dimebuilding.com/

10. 211 West Fort: http://www.211wfort.com/

Most of these have floor overviews and lists of available floor space.

wow, the Buhl Building has a 26th floor barber shop!

211 W Fort is 84.8% leased.

150 W Jefferson is ~80%

Comerica is ~90% (It's hard to tell from their site)

The rest didn't have any information.

So is that good or ok? It doesn't look bad to me, but I don't know what good is.

Just playin. Actually, when I walked by around 8pm tonight, someone was coming out and I got a quick glance in. There were several ladders and some scaffolding setup and I could see where work was being done on the ceiling, but I couldnt tell what exactly was being done.
