I agree.  

I actually dork out and tune in to some of the committee sessions to hear what’s discussed during deliberations and based on council-member questioning and contribution, it’s pretty clear that the representatives are at the mercy of the bureaucracy.  

If we did decide to go to full-time representation with much higher pay and staffing resources, I wouldn’t want it taking effect until there’s a chance to elect an entirely new slate of reps.

As for Eastland, the commitment of resources to this damn mall property is utterly confounding and just some nostalgia BS that I know I’ll never get because I’m not a native.  I never visit that part of the city because I have no need to and I don’t imagine that changing once indoor & e-sports facilities are built.

There had been talk of Meck-Parks taking over the entire 29 acres and creating a signature park modeled on Freedom Park.  I love Freedom and so Id champion this concept.  Throw in a hard-scaled, public square surrounded by civic bldgs and retail, and I think you’d have a winner.

This building is near completion.

 

This is out of the ground and may be the one you mention above.

Between the two above is this area with staging and storage.

 

The bus connection is still here and is the only general motor access in the area. Everything else fenced and construction area limited. A full size bus entered as I was departing. The entry/exist drive is marked Los Amigos Avenue

Heading to Eastland on Central there is a former service station at the corner of Rosehaven with a mobile car wash in operation and a canopy for a tropical(?) fruit sales table. The fruit included something the size and color of a small watermelon but a man was hacking at it with a machete. From this limited description can anyone guess what that fruit was? I know not.

There were more cars in the wash/fruit location than the CVS across the street with a lot three times the size.

Here, as well as everywhere I went in the city today, people were out in force; parks, sidewalks, families, everything. I call this the first true summer day in Charlotte.
