I guarantee you they have a an expansion plan, and that site has plenty of room.  To put in into perspective Presbyterian's main campus is about 63 acres, and that includes a 3 story hospital and the land banking west of Hawthorne .  Heck take out the surface parking on the site and they are darn near the same size.  Presby is over 600 beds plus whatever the ortho hospital has, and something like 8 MOBs.  Granted the Ballantyne site has storm water issues so it will never get that dense, but there is plenty of room to expand when the time comes. 

That intersection is already a disaster. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like after this hospital is finished.

This hospital is 36 beds plus a couple of operating rooms.

In Holly Springs a south Wake County town they are getting a 7 story hospital wonder why they don't build a little taller here?  This photo is 50 bed UNC Rex Hospital in Holly Springs

I think that neighborhood push back also may have come into play here as well if the building was proposed too tall.  Right now even this 4 Story building will not be visible above the existing tree canopy but a 7 story structure would be.

Ballantyne skyline.   I notice the Dentsply Sirona name on this tower now also home of SPX.  The Panorama Tower.  the Northwood Ravin 16 story apartment tower and adjacent 11 story office tower.   Ballantyne Rising!

Noticed the old Vine restaurant along Johnston was being demolished. Any word why? This building was cursed as it never seemed like any dining concept could last there.

Literally it could be for a bank branch like Chase maybe.

I suspect this is just a bridge step as Northwood moves towards densification of the corporate park, I can't imagine it would be financially feasible to keep all 100 acres as park space.

This is a temporary measure opening the former golf course and its cart paths as a path.  There will be parkland in the valley between the existing hotel and Ballantyne Corp Center Drive.  As this reimagined will take years to come together this is a good idea.  They are doing infrastructure work now the new roads that will connect and make somewhat of a grid pattern.

Walked the new "park" today and got some photos of the new 16 story apartment tower and the new 11 story office tower.   the apartment tower looks very much their 550 Stonewall tower uptown. 

Walking trails plus new high rise construction nearby my kinda of a park.

and since I was in Ballantyne area here is the Panorama Tower the mixed used office and hotel and rooftop restaurant.  I can't wait to see the views from that restaurant trees with a few high rises popping up until you see the uptown skyline.  

Tallest building in the Ballantyne submarket and they added 5 floors to that garage!  this is downtown Ballantyne until the Reimagined central park area opens next to the Ballantyne resort hotel.

at the temporary Ballantyne park today.  Finishing up both the 11 story new office tower and the 16 story Towerview apartment tower.

Like walking around the golf course very peaceful and with free garage parking.

was down in Ballantyne area on Sat. did a quick walk around the "park" and saw a farmers market no photos and yoga on the old golf course.  People are really coming out there for the new temporary park.   Northwoods has done a great thing with this temporary park while other sections are being developed.  Also I noticed their plans have slightly changed as seen on their website little more park land where I was walking with more green buffers between existing office building and where new development will be.

Looks like the new 11 story office tower in Ballantyne has landed the expansion of Credit Karma.  Not sure how much space they are taking but at least the 8th floor according to permits.

Based on availabilities in the building it looks like they took the 8th, 9th and 10th floors around 90K sq ft.
