oh please. the narragansetts are not stupid. they knew what they were getting into when climbing into bed with Harrah's on this casino scheme. they may not be spending their own money but they are just as culpable as Harrah's in how disgusting this is turning out and the obscene amounts of cash being spent on this.

I'm sure there is somesort of managment agency that runs the casino or provides somesort of training, it's not like opening a Blimpie's, there's a lot that goes into running a casino. But I'm pretty sure both casinos are independent and more or less run by the tribes. In fact I think Foxwoods has started buying other casinos (or shares in other casinos) in other pars of the country, sort of becoming a Harrah's in their own right.

I think the Harrahgansetts will argue, and probably rightfully so, that many people supported the casino, but didn't like the question as written. This one is faaaaaaaaar from over. I'm frankly surprised that it didn't pass, and shocked that the margin is so large.

they'll keep coming back and will probably keep being rejected until they have the right agreement/wording. it needs to be in providence and i think the amendment should state how much the state gets from earnings. i also think it needs to go out to bid.

"Not only did I vote Yes to the Casino, but I voted against all the Politicians who actively supported the SOS initiative. Someone said mentioned it was the "Good Old Boy Network" at its best, I couldn't agree anymore. Maybe as a short-term Rhode Island resident (less than 10 years), I can see the apparent greasing of palms in the state government by the other two CASINO venues I guess I have been blinded by long-term exposure to corruption and ocean air. By the way, I was glad to see Stenhouse lose when I noted her presence at the SOS rally. Too bad Carcieri survived the vote. The SOS campaign was a self-serving venture by "the network" who couldn't come to grip with their own fears for competition. Now we as residents are stuck with the same going nowhere, but dumping our money into PPAC and local venues and seeeing now relief. By the way, Maybe I'll spend my theater and show money in NYC and Boston -- they get the first run shows anyway. Sad sad sad for all you who voted against. Two years from now when you realize what a mistake you made, don't go crying to anyone by your State Government."

a projo survey of course...

how can people be so pro-casino?

i wonder if that poster realizes that boston doesn't get many first run shows and that PPAC doesn't need their money. i tried to get tickets for wicked and it was nearly sold out. i tried like 4 days after it went on sale.

i wonder why people really think this casino is what the state needs.
