SF Pictures of the Day II

I just saw last night where H&M has made a deal with the House of Versace. Donatella said there will be 40 pieces for women including accessories such as belts, handbags, sunglasses etc. The men's line will have 20 pieces and also along with an accessories line. Interesting how these luxury designers are teaming up with H&M, Target, JCPenney and others to provide a line at price points they say are available to the masses. The Versace line will range from $40.00- $400.00.

What is H&M? I think I've seen one here on Powell. Not sure if it's the same thing though. There's one JCPenney in the burbs in Burlingame and Target is in Colma's Seramonte Center.

SF is set to get its first Target downtown in 2012 now that "Tavern on the Green" never happened at Metreon and the space has been given to Target for development after much debate. Target also wants to open a second store at old Sears building in the Avenues on Geary at Mosonic where Mervyn was located & went out of business not very long ago. However, neighborhood opposition will probably keep Target from getting a second store in SF.

I am really not a shopper and could care less if its Target or Walmart. However, I am attracted to appliances & like going out to Lowe's in South San Francisco because the huge, uncluttered and not crowded space overwhelms my senses with joy for some reason.

Other than AMC Loews 16 and IMAX, the Metreon is very dull. Did eat in their Food Court once or twice with a friend from my work days but I hate food courts. Though the Emporium Food Court is kind of nice in Westfield Center where I sometimes meet GermanArtist who likes it there, so I've tried to like it...but I still don't find it cozy and dislike eating in a decorated basement or Restaurants Under the Dome they call it.

I am not really into the Food Court scene myself. I would much rather have a nice meal at the restaurant of caffe of my choice. They are always packed with people, and noisy, and my brain just does not need that. I need a quite, or semi-quite place with peaceful surroundings, even if it is just an appitizer and a beer. It is so much better that those food courts.

That is one thing I like about the configuration of South Coast Plaza. The mall has no food court, and restaurants, bakeries, and caffes are scattered throughout the mall on the inside as well as the outside.

Maybe we can go there when I come to San Francisco.

...I was in Westfield the other day and realized I am totally disoriented in mall-like settings...Under the Dome Restaurants is completely different from the restaurants in the basement level, which includes a grocery store Bristol Farms. Under the Dome Restaurant Collection is upstairs and closer to the Dome and has individual restaurants with their own seating. I believe the basement Food Court is called the Emporium, which used to be name of the building's "The Emporium" Dept. Store before it went under and came Bloomie's. The food court there is actually nicer than I remember and prob. one of nicest I've ever seen. During redevelopment the dome was retained. Instead of Market Street being Bloomie's main entrance, an entirely shiny new addition was erected on Mission Street, thus Mission St is Bloomie's main entrance. The historic Emporium storefront was kept on Market St...yet another entrance into Westfield's 200+ shops and restaurants with nine anchor stores on nine floors and Century 9 Cinema at the top of Bloomie's. Century 9's lobby, esp. the carpet, looks like a Las Vegas casino without slot machines...

T E N D E R L O I N,

probably not as dangerous as a Philadelphia ghetto but...sketchy with an open-air drug market, young immigrant families and shocking "I don't give a damn" crackheads...
