Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the old Manton Ave. School. I remember driving by that old building, from when I would visit my late grandmother's house. Offhand, Art in Ruins may have something on it.

does anyone remember the school on Manton by the Stop & Shop where a Hollywood video is now? I kind of thought that should have been saved.. Does anyone have pics of that thing?

No ruling, but I did read about this in the paper today.

i think he's referring to the city's quick action to issue emergency demo permits for 2 buildings that did not pose quite a risk as a building that had already been half knocked down.

What a waste. A $5K fine. I just spent more than that on a vet bill. Please.

I hope that folks stay on this--if they build parking it will need a zoning/use change. If they tear it down, they better get all the absetos etc out first otherwise that could trigger and EPA/DEM fine and investigation... Hint Hint.

Not sure how the building could be deemed unsafe. Has anyone even been over there in the last year to check on it?

They still have to apply for a demo permit. I would imagine that as it is a protected building, they will have to go before the HDC? I am glad that i'm 800 miles away, that is for sure.

City granted stay in demolition of Grove Street school

A Superior Court judge has allowed the Grove Street Elementary School to remain standing a while longer, as the city tries to appeal an order to demolish the historic school for safety reasons.
