I walked by, just a couple of days ago, and noticed that the front door was wide open. I didn't remember it being like that before, so it caught my eye. Not sure if it has anything to do with anything, though.

And either way, this sucks. My dog walker called me at around 1pm, and told me that she had to re-route with the pooch because of all the emergency vehicles. I had no idea it was the Grove St. School.

i'm sure that even the fines are on hold until the court case is over.

And there is a lot of prime torching time between now and mid september.

The owners are still responsible for securing the property, which after the fire is even less secure.

I went by the school today, and the first floor windows are still wide open. The front door is boarded up. Does that constitute "secure"? Does anyone know what city office oversees enforcing this securing?

The long-postponed trial to decide the fate of the Grove Street School has been pushed back yet again, after the judge recused himself at the last minute, citing conflicts.

I got an unofficial update on Grove Street School litigation today. The defendants are arguing that they SHOULD have been able to get a demo permit and the judge is currently mulling that over. If he rules that it is true, that they should have been allowed to apply for a permit then that will be that, and they will get a permit, pay some wrist slap of a fine and tear the building down. What makes this even more unfortunate is that the funeral home has since changed hands, and the new owners have no interest in that property whatsoever. So, there is a very good possibility that the building will come down and the lot will sit there empty like so many lots in the neighborhood.

What's not to love?

i heard last night that the Deming Sherman was summoned to court today to explain why this building and its quest for a demo permit is somehow different from all the other buildings and their magical demo permits from the last year...

that cannot be good.

Just as Jen said. This can't be good news for the school. The city definitely comes across as wildly inconsistent in its granting of emergency demo permits.

does anyone remember the school on Manton by the Stop & Shop where a Hollywood video is now? I kind of thought that should have been saved.. Does anyone have pics of that thing?
