While it is considered to also be a Cajun term, "Lagniappe" is really originally Creole. This is why the term is used in, and associated with, New Orleans much more than Cajun Country in Louisiana. Officially it is considered a Louisiana French Creole word, but still could be considered to be Louisiana Cajun as well.

Anything below Alexandria, to me, is Cajun.

That includes you.

And Richy.

And Dan.

And all you Cajuns.

Yeah, yeah, I know... I'm a yankee.

Well I know you're kidding, but if the Creole culture had never come about, New Orleans would just be an older version of Charlotte today. ;)

So it's not a food dish, then?

Gots to love the Creoles. Seriously, New Orleans is awesome in its Creole heritage.

Nope, but since it means "a little somethin extra," it could be the side dishes!! :D Or a piece of pie or cake!!

Haha, nope, but I can see why you might think that. It's just an old Creole/Cajun term that means "A little sumthin' extra" and that could mean pretty much anything. From an extra donut to an extra ticket to a Saints game. :D

What a wicked thought.....

I hear ya, Tom! I think Charlotte is pretty nice, and the area is great, but it's not exactly a cultural meca. ;)

VERY cool, sounds like a fun trip. I'm sure Providence will be great, but New York will be awesome.

I got carded this evening for the first time since I was probably 22. This evening when I got in, I stopped into a local gas station and the teenage clerk carded me when I picked up a 6-pack of Bud Ice. Even the old lady in there has never carded me, and I've not even been carded in liquor stores in a few years.

^Now that's awesome! But I know that if I even had the kind of dough to buy something like that, I would wreck it as soon as I got out on the road. ;)

So how was Dallas, Brian? I have a few friends up there right now, and the word they used to describe some of the downtown area was "dead."

Hell yeah, I would too!! But it's an awesome car nonetheless! I had just finished photographing some buildings and sat down in the car. Then I looked and saw it and said to my wife, "Hey look, a Lamborghini! How cool!" Then I realized I still had my camera in my hand and thought I was going to kill myself trying to get back out of the car to get the photo before the light could change again.

Wow that's funny what you said about Dallas. Check out what I posted on the Dallas Photo of the Day thread... I posted comments along with my pictures. Dallas REALLY disappointed me, for the first time in my life. :( I actually felt unsafe walking around downtown Dallas this morning, and I've never felt that way before. In one area there were thugs and crackheads everywhere.

He needs to enter that bad boy in the Dallas Grand Prix...Oh, wait a minute, they have no Grand-Prix. Even leaving that car in a parking lot going to the store would make me nervous. Dent's from other car-doors, scratches, bird poop, etc. And that's not to mention driving around in that crazy ass city.

I have had some negative driving experiences in Big "D"allas.

Is the new Victory Park area to blame for West End's decline ?
